Rodney King Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI In California

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Rodney King has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Southern California.

The Moreno Valley Police Department said officers pulled King over Tuesday after seeing him commit several alleged traffic violations. He was booked into jail for investigation of DUI, and bail was set at $2,500.

King was the black motorist whose beating by four white police officers in 1991 exposed racial wounds and led to a devastating riot in Los Angeles.

He has struggled with sobriety publicly and appeared on television's "Celebrity Rehab."

Riverside County Sheriff's spokeswoman Courtney Donowho said no arraignment date has been set.

Please explain to me how you book someone on suspicion of DUI. I would think you would find out before you book him and the chaged would be DUI. If it is suspicious, why is their a bail. Help me somebody. Does it make sense or is it me that don't get it. Why would you put something out there on a person if you don't know.

Innocent until proven guilty but reasonable evidence to charge him with an offense. The trial is then to establish if the evidence was sufficient.
