Elle Fanning Poses For Marc By Marc Jacobs Campaign (PHOTOS)

Following in the footsteps of her big sis Dakota, Elle Fanning has stepped in front of the camera for Marc by Marc Jacobs' Fall 2011 campaign.

Shot by Jacobs favorite Juergen Teller, the images feature the 13-year-old staring moodily into the lens wearing lots of muted Marc by Marc Jacobs outfits for autumn.

As opposed to her peer Hailee Steinfeld, who giggled away in girlish ensembles for Miu Miu, Elle dons some quite grown-up pieces, including wide-legged wool pants, a glamorous full-length fur coat and several instances of granny-socks that, together with Elle's blonde hair, suggest a (dare we say) young Chloe Sevigny.

It's quite the sophisticated turn for the budding fashionista, especially compared to Dakota's playful Marc Jacobs debut in 2006.

Fur? I hope it isn't real. That would be so freakin' lame. And there is something disturbing about adults dressing 13 year olds as adult, sophisticated women and using them in marketing as such. These clothes are not out of bounds (except for the dead animals who were anally electrocuted that she is wearing - - which is just not cool, I don't care who tries to say it is and who might be clinging to the totally outmoded and unnecessarily cruel) but I have seen her wearing another designer on HuffPo at various film premiers and it is kinda ridiculous... 6 or 7 inch platform heels and miniskirt. Her parents must want her married off to a TV exec by age 18. I want to yell to Elle - - OMG HEAD FOR THE HILLS.

It's funny they mention her big sister Dakota...should they put "big" in quotations? Elle's ever increasing statuesque presence will soon leave tiny Dakota struggling to keep up with her "little" sisters phenomenal acting skills, and the fact she's eye level with Elle's belly.

I think these photos are kind of creepy and depressing. She is a very pretty girl, and I like Marc Jacobs (though I have to agree that most of these articles are tacky) but I just get a depressing, cold vibe from the whole thing.

The people buying these clothes are a lot older than Elle Fanning, that's my only complaint. I'm not going to even consider buying something that's been advertised on a kid, even a tall beautiful girl like her.

She makes a great model. Particularly because she's not anything special to look at, my eyes were automatically drawn to the clothing, not the face, which should be the goal in advertising.
