Sarah Palin On Debt Ceiling: It's 'Not Time To Retreat, It's Time To Reload' (VIDEO)

Sarah Palin Debt Ceiling

During an appearance on Fox News' "Hannity" on Wednesday night, Sarah Palin sent a strong message to Republicans on the issue of raising the nation's deficit limit.

"We cannot default, but we cannot afford to retreat right now either," the former Alaska governor said. "Now is not time to retreat, it's time to reload."

She continued, "We reload with reality by giving facts and numbers to the American public so that those of us across the United States can start chiming in and letting our representatives know that we will not capitulate."

Speaking at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans last year, Palin used similar language in calling for political action from conservatives. "Don't retreat - reload, and that's not a call for violence," she said at the time.

On Wednesday night, the former governor also took issue with an unconventional plan to raise the debt ceiling put forth by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) earlier this week. "This plan of McConnell's, I think, makes no sense because it does cede power to our president and takes away that authoritey that is inherent in Congress to control the economic decisions that have to be made when it comes to debt," she said.

HuffPost's Ryan Grim and Elise Foley relay background on the proposal:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) floated a novel way out of default Tuesday, suggesting that Congress give up its power to raise the debt ceiling, and instead effectively transfer that authority -- and the political pain that comes with it -- to the White House for the remainder of Obama's current term. ... Under current law, Congress raises the debt ceiling, which allows the Treasury Department to issue more bonds to pay off debts and fund projects that Congress has already authorized. Raising the debt ceiling does not authorize or appropriate new spending, but merely settles old bills.

Yet under McConnell's plan, which he called his "last-choice option," the White House would request an increase in the debt ceiling and Congress could only block that request with a veto-proof super majority -- effectively ceding control over the debt limit to the White House. A super majority would likely be difficult to amass, especially when neither party's leadership genuinely wants the nation to default.

Palin outlined her stance on raising the deficit in a post on Facebook last weekend.

"This debt ceiling debate is the perfect time to do what must be done," she wrote. "We must cut. Yes, I'm for a balanced budget amendment and for enforceable spending caps. But first and foremost we must cut spending, not 'strike a deal' that allows politicians to raise more debt! See, Washington is addicted to OPM - Other People's Money. And like any junkie, they will lie, steal, and cheat to fund their addiction. We must cut them off and cut government down to size."

Palin underscored her bottom line on the issue on Wednesday night: "I'm still not one to buy into this notion that we must incur more debt, we must increase the debt ceiling by August 2, otherwise there will be catastrophe, I still don't believe that that's necessarily the case."

This woman was the beginning of the hate fill rhetoric that is tearing our country apart. She is such a hypocrite. Alaska has the highest percentage of government monies in the US. Sarah, go home to Lake Lucille. Watch the grebes on the lake. You 15 minutes of fame has expired long ago.

Sarah Palin should remember who got us into this mess....It was Bush. Two unpaid wars...medicare prescription.drug plan unfunded...Unfunded tax breaks for the rich and big business which did nothing but drive our ecomomy to the ground. Yet the Repubs become concerned about spending when a Black Democrat is in office....Well they say they want their country back to do what-----destroy it more???.

She looks old and sounds medicated. Well I guess on person in the audience (and that was a critic) for her movie in LA would be kind of wearing.

Well, I guess we can all take solace in the fact she doesn't teach.

Hmmm and this comes from the one that can see Russia from my back porch. My goodness with people like this putting her worthless two cents in the ears of ones such as Eric Cantor, Ron Paul, and the fanatical, bigoted Tea Party group it's like they want this country to fail so they can try to blame Obama and the Dems. 2012 election should be interesting.

Sarah Palin is a vetted, intelligent, business owner, capitalist, policy wonk, happy, beautiful, experienced servant of the people of Alaska, physically fit, and a person of character. She is not a quitter. She has a plan for the greater good, and the Left is scared...BOO!

Vetted? She never submitted her medical records when running for VP. And that's just one example of her not being vetted. Intelligent? After touring Boston, she STILL didn't know anything about the Revolutionary War. Again, just one example. Happy? Happy people don't try to elevate themselves by diminishing everyone else. Beautiful? That's in the eye of the beholder. I find her average looking at best. Person of character? She's a habitual liar and a control freak. Not a quitter? She quit 4 colleges, she quit her term as governor, she quit her Hawaiian vacation, she quit her bus tour. Scared? The only thing that the left is "scared" of is that there are enough uninformed Americans to get her elected one day.

If you like intelligent, happy, beautiful, physically fit, personal of character, not a quitter, then it's Michelle Obama that you really like!

Please run, Sarah. Please. President Obama will be re-elected by a 25 point margin, and the GOP will go down like the Hindenburg. With them out of the way, maybe the door will open for a viable left of center party, and the Democrats can become the conservative party, which they just about are already.

"I'm still not one to buy into this notion that we must incur more debt, we must increase the debt ceiling by August 2, otherwise there will be catastrophe, I still don't believe that that's necessarily the case."

Resting the case once and for all that she hasn't the expertise on these matters even equal to an 8th grader.

WHY is this consistent quitter, without any relevant insight or wisdom upon ANY matter involving politics, continually given more time by the press? I can point to ten people in one second on Twitter that are worthy of listening to and have more knowledge regarding the economy and the facts of the Bush Great Recession (Bush Great Depression if Cons complete their agenda to crash the economy).

Seditionists and propagandists like her need to be removed from all discussions regarding our nation. She and her ilk need to let the adults do the work, and quit prodding on more extremist right-wing acts with her violent rhetoric.
