Independent Weekly:

It's a game, indeed, that Miller's been very good at for about 30 years as a member of the state Legislature and, since he was elected in 2002, of Congress. But for Miller, the game may be ending, called on account of a Republican redistricting plan that seeks to yank most of Miller's District 13 out from under him and force him to run, in the 2012 elections, where he cannot win.

In fact, Miller says Republicans have targeted him for extinction precisely because he is on the rise as a progressive, and thus a threatening force in Washington, especially on critical banking and Wall Street reform issues

The GDXYZ Republicans are at it again, trying their best to destroy anyone or anything that appears to have the best interests of the country at heart.

If I had any spare money, I'd send it to Brad Miller, as he's doing a good job and he's from Raleigh NC, where I performed my first political act long ago, campaigning for Terry Sanford for governor, and for JFK. I got a chance to meet Sanford, and got an invitation to his inaugural, where RFK spoke. Takes me back...

Democrats have seldom had it easy of late in the Tarheel State. I hope his constituents can see past all the Teahattery and realize Mr. Miller is on their side, doing work on their behalf.

Somehow edited away my mention of the jerry-mandering that threatens Mr. Miller. Hope it's quashed, doubt it will be, so I hope he runs wherever he can. Somebody who's got his eyes on the serial criminal predations of the financial overclass is too precious to lose in the House.

If the voters were smarter, then the election results of 2010 would not have happened.
LOOK AT WHAT IT HAS DONE TO THE COUNTRY. STAYING HOME or NOT VOTING seems to have caused a lot of grief for this country!

It's disgusting that someone who is trying to protect Americans from the abuse of wall street banksters is being targeted. SICK SICK SICK.

There's a lesson to be learned. In 1990 my California district was created in a way that it was guarenteed to be Republican forever. Well, that lasted for about six years and we elected a Democrat but in 2000 the Republicans again redistricted it including a large swath of Republicans in the new district. It remained democratic and when my rep was named an undersecretary of state, the new rep was a democrat who got reelected in 2010. Sometimes the voters of both parties are smarter than we think.

Redistricting is a fact of life in congressional politics and so is gerrymandering. The party in power in a state always draws the lines to favor its candidates.

Once again, leading the nation, California has taken redistricting out of the hands of the legislature and into the hands of an independent panel made up primarily of judges.

Go ahead good people of North Carolina. Put another Republican in Congress so they keep making things happen for the richest people at your expense. If you are that stupid not to see that then you deserve what you get. No one will ever reform gerrymandering, and if you vote for a party just because you that's what you always have done, well then the jokes on you!

The Republican Party was once the party of the working man. Then in the 60s and 70s
a group of Ideal Logs, and corporations called ALEX took over the republican party and
it degenerated into what you have today. If you don't know about ALEX you should attend
their convention in New Orleans this month. For politions its called one stop shopping. If
you attend you will learn who really runs the country and the Republican party,

The R party was the party of the working man when? FDR was the pres for the working man and he was a D and R's hated him. Maybe in 1879 they were for the working man. Till the banksters and railroad tycoons bought them out.

Maybe hank101 is referring to Theodore Roosevelt's days? But, if I'm not mistaken they ran T out of the party and his last venture was the Bullmoose Party. I think we need T back to straighten out what is left of the GOP. How about we bring back him, Eisenhower, Goldwater and Reagan? Nah, none of them would sign the "pledges" and they would be kicked out too! LOL...what a bunch of children!

The Republicans are fast circling the bottom of the toilet bowl, clinging to whatever they can to avoid their inevitable trip to the sewer.

Seems to me they're the fabled bottomfeeding sewermonsters we've all heard about ... who rise up out of the sludge, terrorizingusall and sending the country swirling down to the bottom where they live.

Republicans have increasingly proven they will stoop to any level to get their way. Another one of their accomplishments was to prevent paroled felons from voting in the next Presidential Election in Florida, because the majority of those former inmates are either Black or Hispanic.
They dig holes deeper than hell to deprive Americans their rights to the Constitution

This is why the republicans planted fake democrats to primary the democrats here in Wisconsin. They knew they would lose so by having the primaries they pushed back the date to August the general election. Walker and his minions are already working on a redistricting map. We can try to take it to the state supreme court but the majority is conservative. There might be a glimmer of hope and that is Justice Pressor get kick off because of his incident involving putting a female supreme Justice in a choke hold. Walker will put a temporary replacement but there will have to be another election. This time we will watch every vote very carefully. We don't want to have 7,500 votes to appear two days later that put Pressor in the lead.

Typical Republican dirty tricks. Republicans don't want banking or Wall Street reform. They want to protect the crooks who brought this country to its knees.

Tom Delay and his cohorts tried to do the same thing to Lloyd Doggett but failed. Here's hoping that Miller's foes will fail as well.
