Jell-O Mold Competition At Gowanus Studio 2011 (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 07/14/11 05:09 PM ET   Updated: 09/13/11 06:12 AM ET

This year's Jell-O Mold Competition at the Gowanus Studio was a real visual feast. Participants submitted their elaborate and often bizarre concepts to compete in various categories, and for the glory of being helmed geniuses of a thriving artform -- Jell-O.

Artists were judged on creativity, aesthetics, structural integrity, badassness, and more. Entries varied greatly, from a working transistor Jell-O piano, to a chocolate pudding Obama bust, to a Chicken birthing chicken-flavored gelatin eggs. Yes.

Browse these pictures and you will never scoff at this jiggly treat again.

And just when I thought that all the fun there was to be had with jello, had already been had, they come up with THIS!

The hotdogs are very realistic, the false teeth are hilarious and the piano is ingenious.

Some of these were ok, not sure why the fish won though. I thought the first slide was better than they were.

How did the fish win the Grand Prize?? I thought they were pretty mediocre at best

i actually think they are the best ones. i can see those "bones" being produced and sold in stores. then you could make them at home as fun treats for kids. fish shaped jell-o pops. portable, easy, do-able and cute. it's brilliant, really.
