'The Franchise,' SF Giants Reality Show, Premieres On Showtime (VIDEO)

WATCH: Giants Reality Show Premiere Rife With Drama

The Giants' new reality show "The Franchise" premiered last night on Showtime, satiating the curiosity of our detail-loving fans.

This Franchise is surely a different show than the original pitch, planned when the city was still covered in ticker tape and hoarse from screaming Renteria’s name. Instead, the premiere is rife with drama, chronicling this season’s freakish injuries, surprising stars and frustrating offense.

The premiere makes it clear that the Giants take themselves very seriously. This was to be expected after the show’s preview--Bruce Bochy’s opening voiceover was set to a shark-fishing trip and cut with scenes from last year’s World Series. But between this episode's epics, pranks and Wilsonisms were some surprisingly tender moments. (Who knew Zito could be so paternal?)

A sure highlight was Jeremy Affeldt's hospital trip to visit Bryan Stow, the victim of a brutal beating at Dodgers' stadium. Borderline inappropriate or a heartfelt touch? Check out our clip below and decide for yourself (and be sure to weigh in in our comments section!).

And catch more episodes of "The Franchise" Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on Showtime.
