Jerry Seinfeld Joins Twitter

Hello, Jerry.

Twitter has become the domain for standup comedians, writers and celebrities to work out their best jokes and amass virtual applause in the form of retweets. It's time for them to up their game: the mind behind the greatest sitcom of all time has joined the fray.

Jerry Seinfeld, who has slowly dipped back into the spotlight after a decade-plus absence following the end of "Seinfeld," is now on Twitter, sending funny missives from the username @SeinTime.

"Greetings Tweetarians! I have just landed on your Planet. This could be my last Tweet," he wrote around 5pm EST on Friday. Luckily, it wasn't his last tweet -- he's up to three as of this moment! -- though he's thus far only talking about quitting things. Quite the meta statement from the funnyman.

Of course, let's hope this classic line from his show doesn't hold true: "I learned something. Letting my emotions out was the best thing that's ever happened to me. Sure, I'm not funny anymore. There's more to life than making shallow, fairly obvious observations."

Because really, what else is Twitter for?
