Wake up and smell the coffee. Stop and smell the roses. The grass is always greener on the other side.

We've all heard them a million times, and there are some we are pretty sick of already. This week, we decided to ask our readers what annoyingly bad cliché they'd like to see banned from use, and we received some particularly interesting results!

Did we miss one that you'd like to see banned? Let us know in the comments!

How about making a comment and then adding NOT at the end? That was cute for 5 minutes in 1989.

Let us not forget that feel-good word..."closure". I detest hearing that.

I guess my hermit status is still valid. WHAT THE HELL DOES "LOL" MEAN?

I actually find "To throw someone under a bus" humorous, given it's not overused as a trite phrase, and is used only for the context of the situation instead of the context of style. I found "That's how I roll" pretty corny, though there may be a few cases where there are exceptions to that.

Are a few phrases that have gotten old for me:

"You have your peaks and you have your valleys"
"Call now!" (TV)
"Yo, yo" (When used in every other sentence)
"Gee willikers?" (Already out of style, though it may be funny if used mockingly)
"You can say that again" (maybe)
(any canned line used as filler for a bad movie, especially remakes of cartoons)
(Most pickup lines or ice breakers)

I guess I'm lucky enough to not have to experience these too often.

"No offense, but...."

I hate that so much! You know that the next thing that's said is going to be offensive.

I personally hate that the word 'Literally' is used five times in a sentence nowadays.
'I was literally doing my nails and then my phone rang and I literally couldn't answer it 'cause my nails were literally wet' ... That's how my sister speaks. It makes me literally want to slap her.

It's sad when you can predict, with high accuracy, what limited vocabulary and phrases will emerge from someone's mouth, pen or keyboard. Personally, my estimation of someone's intelligence drops when I read "LOL." And when it comes to the bizarre things some people say when they hear that one of your friends or family has died...sheesh.

Reading LOL is very different than someone saying it. There are actually people that talk in text speak these days and it scares me. Instead of laughing they say LOL !!! It makes me cringe.

Everyone once in a while you'd hear someone say, "I got to take a dump", but aside from 13 year old boys, you rarely heard anyone speak of bathroom habits. Now, you can't watch a night of TV without hearing the words "poo" and "poop" and I hear it in the office and in public now.
