The United States has always been branded as a melting pot of various customs and cultures. Apparently this principle also extends to workouts. Long gone are the days where your only choices were organized sports, dance classes or Jazzercise.

We scoured the country to find the eight of the most eclectic -- and most fun -- fitness regimens. What quirky workout classes are available in your town?

Boinging

If you've ever wondered what it felt like to have the agility of a kangaroo, look no further. Boing with Kangoo, run out out of Crunch Fitness, uses Kangoo shoes which -- literally -- put a spring in your step. The class then uses a series of low-impact movements to get your heart pumping.

I really want to try Anti-gravity Yoga. It looks like one of those fabric circus acts, which I love.

Did anyone mention naked yoga? It's for those who are COMPLETELY in tune with their nakedness. This may be good to try out with your partner at home. ;) http://bit.ly/gmMEt

Mix up any kind of cardio workout with weight resistance simultaneously and WATCH~THE~RESULTS folks ! (45 mins max - four days a week).

Want to lose wight ? Stop trying working so hard to pack it on ! NO NEED TO LOSE ANYTHING WE AREN'T CONSTANTLY TRYING TO PACK ON. ( We KNOW what to eat - so "Just Do It" as NIKE's motto goes )

Wackiest is right, especially when it comes to yoga. Real Yoga is all about the Hindu religion; taught by Hindus and, of course, not for a fee (this is religion). This new-age yoga stuff is very insulting and rude.

The company was kind enough to send me a pair to try out and discuss on my blog. Due to the heat - it's been too hot to try outside right now (so I haven't blogged about hem yet)...but I tried them in the house and all I can say is... These are AWESOME!! They are so weird but just walking around in them you feel a workout all over.

Walking in them feels like you are bouncing on air and they are just so cool! If you get the chance try a class - I am sure you will get the lightweight feeling I get when I wear them!

I don't really like working out. I've been a practitioner of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation for years but a few months ago I purchased a Vibrational/Power Plate and it is great. You don't have time to get bored and despite what some fitness gurus have said about it I have gotten good results. I don't have a high end unit so it compact enough to be in my bedroom and I find many opportunities to use it throughout the day. I start out each day standing on it to brush my teeth for two minutes at the highest level. This get my energy moving for the day and loosen all my muscles. I even use it when I get tense shoulders or a backache. At the lower speeds it's a great massager. I went online and found dozens of exercises to add to my workout to mix things up. To challenge myself I now add ankle and wrist weights to my workout. The concept of the Power Plate is to improve muscle strength and bone density by using the body's natural response to vibration. Most fitness clubs have them but if you can afford a home unit it worth the money.

What brand is your power plate and how much did it cost?
10:47 AM on 07/24/2011
It's a William Powers. Go to this website:

http://www.heartlandamerica.com/browse/item.asp?product=vibrating-body-fitness-machine&PIN=91927&GUID=E151D53D-C1B6-4B48-A11F-913DB61CAED0&BC=7000&DL=MCH1

I joined this club they offer and got discounts for any products I purchase from them so with shipping which was free & extended warranty it came to $199. It's not one of the name brands and probably a knock off but since I hadn't used one before I didn't want to invest in an expensive piece of equipment and not use it. I really like it so in the future I will invest in another unit that's more powerful. I recommend getting the one year extended warranty because if it gets banged around in shipping because it's about 35-40 pounds, than the company will replace it. You can also find them on Amazon & Ebay but you'll probably pay hefty shipping cost.
