Angelina Jolie Admits Her Kids Eat Crickets 'Like Doritos'

Tarantulas on a stick? Spider soup? Crickets? When it comes to exposing her eclectic brood to some of the world's most outrageous delicacies, Angelina Jolie is all for it. While on location in Cambodia for a Louis Vuitton photo shoot, Jolie told E! News that she doesn't have to beg her kids to expand their munching horizons, they're all for living the bug's life.

"I've always loved to eat crickets. It's their favorite thing," Jolie said of her kids' snack of choice. "They ate them like Doritos and they wouldn't stop. But they're good. They are like a potato chip."

Although the Jolie-Pitt clan was surely getting their daily dose of protein when they were popping the crunchy critters, Jolie had to eventually ban crickets from the kids' snack time schedule because she was afraid they might get sick from eating so many.

So why doesn't it surprise us that Jolie's kids' favorite paper bag snack is a crispy, four-legged creature? Maybe because last year Jolie detailed her own cockroach eating routine: "There's this very pointy bit on their stomach you just can't eat. You have to kind of pop that off," she said, according to New York Magazine.

What happened to the good ol' days of peanut butter and jelly?

Really? Are you one of her servants? I ask honestly, because I'm not sure how one would know (or maybe I just didn't read the article well enough).

If you go to Mexico, try the chapulines. In Korea, try the beondegi.

I used to catch and eat huge bugs. We call them Lobster :) I'm not sure how closely related they are to roaches or spiders, but they are the bugs of the sea. And I'm bettin they taste better than roaches too!
Funny how different cultures are, if we in the US ordered a plate of steak and there happened to be a lobster on it, we'd be happy. But if there was a cockroach, cricket etc we would throw a fit of disgust.

Saw this on CNN. Crickets are actually pretty tasty. Much of the world eats inects as either a delicacy or as a common food item. Ants, crickets, grasshoppers, locusts, many kinds of beetles, and scorpions are all commonly eaten.

Don't knock them until you've tried them.

Nothing much surprises me with her. She's one of a kind for sure. No one can say she's scared of broadening her horizons (or that of her children).

i hate to say it but do you know that cockroach eggs sometimes fall into the choclate in candy factories?,red food dye is usually made from something that comes out of a type of insect,oh and if you eat tons of meat you are probably ingesting little bits of feces and urine(probably human urine too because i"ve seen a video of a guy peeing on the walls of a tyson chicken plant).

LOL. Some of you just make me laugh with your sheep-like stupidity. It makes me so angry, watching the same types of people who judge me, judge someone who makes a difference in this world. She raises her kids to be open-minded and survive in any society. What do YOU do for your kids that's similar?

"OH, she is such a terrible mom! She is making her children lose friends, cos they will all think they're weird and stop hanging with them!" - Uhm WHAT? Are you still in high school? It's good riddance if they lose "friends" who refuse to see any culture but their own. =/

"OH, she needs to feed their kids REAL FOOD." - You mean the manufactured food you eat? Only in America have I seen meat being sold with a label saying "95% meat" - now THAT'S GROSS.

"Oh she did this and this and this to Jennifer Aniston and she was raised like this and I believe everything I read and never stop to think that perhaps there is more to people than the information they divulge" - Yeah, 'nuff said.

Didn't know teh only choices were crickets or Hostess sugar snacks. Guess they've stopped selling carrots, banana chips, and fruit.

Considering that three of her children come from countries where crickets are sometimes all they can get, it's no surprise. I'm just saying, it could be a cultural thing, despite them living with her.

I don't know why this is news, however. Plenty of kids ate bugs and will continue to eat them. Personally I ate worms as a child, but that was because those were all I could find.
