Clinton: India-Pakistan Talks Are Encouraging To The U.S.

NEW DELHI (AP) -- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday that the United States was "encouraged" by the revived peace talks between nuclear-armed rivals India and Pakistan.

Clinton spoke at a news conference after she talked with top Indian officials about Pakistan, the U.S. withdrawal plans for Afghanistan and ways to broaden economic ties between the United States and India.

Her talks came less than a week after a terror attack in Mumbai killed 20 people, in the worst terror strike in India since 10 Pakistan-based gunmen rampaged through the country's financial capital in 2008, killing 166 people.

After that attack, talks broke off between India and Pakistan, but they have resumed in recent months and the two countries' foreign ministers are expected to meet next week.

"We are encouraged by the dialogue between India and Pakistan," Clinton said, calling talks "the most promising approach" to build more confidence between the countries.

The U.S. is eager for fragile peace talks between India and Pakistan to pick up steam, in part so Pakistan can focus on its chaotic Afghan border.

Once frosty relations between India and the United States have warmed considerably in recent years as Washington has looked to democratic India as a stable ally in turbulent South Asia and its growing economy as a valuable market for U.S. goods.

During a 2 1/2 hour meeting Tuesday, Clinton and S.M. Krishna, India's foreign minister, agreed to strengthen their countries' ties in on energy, security, the economy, education, science and promoting stability across the region.

What withdrawal plans ... or is the non-withdrawal plans for bases full of special forces to dominate the region for years and years to come plus a giant Embassy in Pakistan paced full of CIA agents and associated corporate contractors.. until we go bankrupt anyway which could be anyday at 60% decresased federal tax revenue and no end in sight as all wealth goes to the untaxabel rich and off-shored multi-national corporations and those at hgme have no jobs to pay for the soldiers and special forces and secret CIA operation and a thousand world wide bases and high tech weaponry that is too smart for it's own good.

1) Stress at Peace talks between two Nuclear States. Well, but lack of seriousness, sticking to their own points, or engaged other party for other objectives can not bear good visible fruit from these rosy colored peace talks.

NOTE: Is it fully evident that Pakistan was involved in 2008 terror attack, if the case is in process than simply why they are accusing Pakistan in that attack?

I had a roommate from Bangladesh. She was a naturalized citizen going to college on full-scholarship even though her grades were slack. When she finishes it is her intent to move to the UK, "In the UK they give you everything, food, housing, medical you don't have to work." My question, how is it that the poor from India, Bangladesh etc know how to play the system on an international level? She knew to come here to get a free education which she does not intend to use while she lives in the UK on the dole. Her husband is moving to the UK while she finishes college here on us. She was disturbed to realize that even living abroad she will have to pay US taxes. She didn't feel that was fair. This experience changed my feelings entirely on our illegal aliens. At least they want to stay here and become legal and pay taxes here. These "LEGAL" immigrants are getting their educations for free with the intent of living on Englands dole later and not using their education. MY children did not get free education. I DIDN"T GET FREE EDUCATION. Make the illegals legal and kick the users out.

Do you really believe that this is the ONLY person to have done this? She has a family and her sister's are doing the same thing. She has cousins who are also intent upon doing the same thing. Granted their intentions may change and of the three sisters, perhaps one may actually stay here... While we wait to see, there are American born children who are unable to get college funding. These are students who have better grades and better ambitions than to go be leeches in the UK.

On the other hand there is no answer. More education and better education is needed world-wide and the reality is these girls would have little or no education in Bangladesh. It just really makes me mad that my own son couldn't get funding for college and this girl sat there in front of me talking about using the system for nothing.
