Allen West Fundraising With DNC Chairwoman Insult

Allen West Debbie Wasserman Schultz

First Posted: 07/20/11 04:07 PM ET Updated: 09/19/11 06:12 AM ET

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) reiterated his controversial descriptions of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) on Wednesday in an email to supporters, and appealed for donations because "it's times like this that I need friends with me."

The fundraising email is titled "Vile, Despicable, and Unprofessional," and it echoes a letter West sent to Wasserman Schultz, copying congressional leaders, on Tuesday in which he called the DNC chair "vile, despicable and cowardly," and said she was "not a lady."

West has come under fire in the past 24 hours for the email, which some considered overly hostile. In fact, less than an hour after the email was sent, West told The Huffington Post's Jen Bendery that he had "just apologized" to Wasserman Schultz.

But Wasserman Schultz spokesman Jonathan Beeton said later that West still hasn't apologized. "He did not. Not in person, not via fax, not via phone," Beeton said.

West may feel a bit of regret over the comments, but judging by this fundraising appeal he feels he can profit (politically) off of them as well.

From: Allen West For Congress Date: Wed, Jul 20, 2011 at 2:32 PM Subject: Vile, Despicable, and Unprofessional

Those three words sum up my feelings about Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee.

By now, you've probably heard the story. But I wanted you to hear it from me.

Yesterday, on the floor of the House, I publicly expressed my support for "Cut, Cap, and Balance" -- the leading conservative proposal to help us get our spiraling debt and spending under control.

Once I left the floor, Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (DNC Chair) -- who it seems does little except act as an attack dog for the "vast left wing conspiracy" -- attacked me personally for supporting the legislation.

It's not a coincidence that she is the Chairwoman of the DNC and that the Democrats are making me target #1 for defeat.

In a discussion of grave importance to this nation's future, she somehow finds time to try to score political points. And she doesn't have the guts to do it to my face!

Episodes like these show that her agenda isn't to improve the lives of Floridians or to stand on principle. She's an attack dog for the liberal, progressive wing of the Democratic Party -- plain and simple.

And it's times like this that I need friends with me.

Please make a donation of $25 or more at my website right now. And join thousands of other patriotic Americans in standing up against the vicious attack from the Democratic National Party.

Steadfast and Loyal,

Allen West

Member of Congress

If Norquist and Boehner, in a drunken rage, wreck the economy into a tree West will have a lot more problems after the Feminista Castro Style revolution lead by Wasserman Shultz. It won't be safe for men anywhere if we don't stop Boehner and Norquist. Read my blog: Why Not Raising the Debt Ceiling is Bad for Men: Rise of the Feministas http://www.crazypoliticos.com/why-not-raising-the-debt-ceiling-is-bad-for-men-rise-of-the-feministas.html

You can only wonder if a bit of self-loathing is being projected by West, his failures in the military and past statement reflect a man that seems to take any criticisms very personally and lashes out with bitter and vindictive statements, hardly the qualities needed to be a thoughful and confident leader.

Viciously insult someone, then have the audacity to ask people for money. This BS from the right is getting old.

its rediculous how republicans all do the same thing try to act like they are justified try to blame some one else n then try n profit for themselves off of it i mean come on "she doesnt care about bettering the lives of floridians" but he is trying to profit himself over this whole situation by having a fundraiser i mean u dont think any of that money would go towards our nations debt do u? and it seams to me that we forget that all this debt is thanks to ex president bush whaker and the only reason we havnt recovered yet is because the republican run senate refuses to let any idea the democrats have right now go into play all they keep doing is crying and whining n trying to play the blame game when in my opinion finding solutions are more important then finding someone to blame

Allen West is a scary guy. He sounds like he would like to take our country and make it a theocracy - basing his judgments and policies on the OLD TESTAMENT? See this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N294FMDok98 At first hearing, if you are conservatives, he may sound good. But if you read between the lines, he is very dangerous. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMp60uHAnfA&feature=relmfu He will do whatever it takes to defend Israel (based on the OLD TESTAMENT!! and even with the bad policies Israel is conducting of strategic continuing expansion!) EVEN IF it means sacrificing young Americans lives, even if it means innocent Arabs may be killed in the process. He is too extreme and comes as close to an evangelical fanatic (just like the Muslim fanatics we are fighting!) as you can get and still appear "sane" to some. All this rage over a disclosure of his support for a policy (regardless of what that is) is childish, stupid, and uncalled for. The scary thing about him is he appeals to the emotional instinct of "patriotism", and "us-VS-them" mentality. He may simply be used as a sharp knife on the battle field (?), but not cool headed enough to be a leader in congress.

He may be sufferring from PTSD. However no where did Schultz personally attack him or his character. She attacked his position on medicare and he responded with a personal attack which is totally unprofessional but is now standard fare with the baggers.

I don't care anything about her feelings. I do wish Wasserman Schultz would allow the Democratic party to be what it is..representative of Democracy. That means someone in the Democratic party should have the guts to run against Obama and instead of her being his secretary, she should be the DNC chair that she is and encourage others to offer fair competition to Obama, within the party. They are just like the Bush Republicans. No one dares run against Obama in the primaries, just as nobody dared run against Bush in the 04 primaries. Why bother trusting them.

Iraq incident
While in Taji, Iraq, West received information from an intelligence specialist about a reported plot to ambush him and his men. The alleged plot reportedly involved Hamoodi, a Iraqi police officer. West, who was not responsible for conducting interrogations in Iraq and had never conducted or witnessed one, had his men detain Hamoodi. In the process of detaining Mr. Hamoodi, soldiers testified that Mr. Hamoodi appeared to reach for his weapon and needed to be subdued. Hamoodi was beaten by four soldiers from the 220th Field Artillery Battalion on the head and body. West then fired his pistol near Hamoodi's head, after which Hamoodi provided West with names and information, which Hamoodi later described as "meaningless information induced by fear and pain." At least one of these suspects was arrested as a result, but no plans for attacks or weapons were found. West said "At the time I had to base my decision on the intelligence I received. It's possible that I was wrong about Mr. Hamoodi." West was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. During a hearing held as part of an Article 32 investigation in November 2003, West stated, "I know the method I used was not right, but I wanted to take care of my soldiers."The charges were ultimately referred to an Article 15 proceeding rather than court-martial, at which West was fined $5,000. West accepted the judgment and retired.

Asking for donations in this way smells of desperation and is, frankly, tacky. He is in the wrong and shouldn't profit...he should apologize...to her face.

He is not a war hero... the army did not give him an honorable discharge, in fact they separated from him... which is just above a dishonorable discharge... look it up.

Since when does challenging the position of another politcian during a congressional floor debate becaome a dispicable attack. The only things dispicable about this is yours and West's inability to handle criticism, and the inability to tell the truth.

It was a weird coalition of Teabaggers, seniors who had been put off by the health care reform whacking into their medicare...(some of my fellow seniors expect to live forever)..., and biker rednecks who dislike an AA president more than an AA representative...Obama just got too high ya' see.  Oh yeah, those bikers don't seem to care for Jews either and he defeated Ron Klein, whom I thought was doing a decent job for the district.  He won by fewer than 4,000 votes and I doubt he'll be returned after the 2012 election.  And no, I don't believe your people did in any significant numbers.  ;-)
