McDonald's Largest Restaurant To Be Built For 2012 London Olympics (VIDEO)

The Olympics is a time for breaking records and making history. Usually, athletes are responsible for these victories. This round, McDonald's will go for the gold(en arches).

The fast food chain has just announced plans to build the world's largest McDonald's restaurant in London's Olympic Park.

The giant eatery will boast 32,000 square feet and a 1,500-person seating capacity. The park will open just in time for the 2012 Olympics and Michael Phelps' insatiable appetite.

The massive establishment unseats the current champ, a McDonald's in Orlando, Florida.

McDonald's will employ a star team to help serve a projected 1.75 million meals during the games. 2,000 workers will be chosen from the chain's top-selling franchises all around the world.

The restaurant is one of four to be built in the area. The others will be located in the Park, the Olympic Village and the Main Press Center.

During the 29 days of the games, only ticket holders will be able to enjoy Happy Meals from the record-breaking franchise, but afterwards, anyone can feel free to chow down.

How are they going to maintain that big a fast food joint when the number of customers dwindle after games end? I see that thing closing down a few years from now. Then again, maybe they don't intend for it to be permanent...

McDonalds and the Olympics a wonderful alliance. Healthy athletes and the many fans who admire them chomping down on "nutriously marketed" goods which are anything but. Isn't any event sacred anymore?

I hadn't been to a McDonalds in a long time. I lost 80 pounds just by staying away. I went into the local McDonalds in Lake Zurich, Illinois for a small ice cream cone as a treat during the 100 degree heat. The tables were filthy, there was trash overflowing the trash cans. I guess you can't tell the food apart from the trash. Disgusting! I left and won't go back.

It's perfect.

McD's is the cultural skidmark that defines the hypocrisy of the Olympics.

I am paying for the games but I cannot afford a ticket. The costs of the tickets should either cover the costs of the whole game or be free for the taxpayers who fund it.

Just like the world cup it is a bloated disgraceful sign of the last century’s greed and corruption and has nothing to do with sport.

And we can thank Ken Livingstone the 2 faced git for turning a big chunk of London into flats for rich people
