Michelle Obama Wears Wrap Dress On Wednesday (PHOTOS)

Michelle Obama hosted an event on access to healthy, affordable food in the East Room of the White House on Wednesday.

For the occasion, the first lady picked a sleek summer look: a gray wrap dress by Narciso Rodriguez paired with metallic kitten heels and a stack of bangles. Her hair was twisted and pinned up, seemingly her favorite warm weather 'do.

It's a cute Day Dress.  The First Lady isn't a model and her job isn't Fashion Maven.  Michelle Obama is photograph­ed in every outfit she wears.  Could any of you stand up to that test?  I hardly think so.

I'm 5'11 128 pounds. Wrap dress look ok on me but she's a big boned woman and they are not flattering. Still intelligent woman and a fantastic mother.

I am also kind of tall and thin and I would never wear that dress. I have now figured out that she likes the waste very high...personaly, I think the stylist could eaily have it fitted to look better...but she likes it. But THAT dress? I don't know anyone who would look good in it. Looks like a hotel housekeeper's uniform.

Hardly!!!  Michelle Obama has Classic Style, in fact she is trend-setting with every Designer clamoring to give her clothes.  I give her kudos for trying to dress perfect in EVERY outfit since EVERY outfit is picked apart.

I really like Michelle Obama and respect the attention she brings to important issues. But for some reason she doesn't seem to dress like the highly educated, professional woman she is. She looks stunning in evening wear, but many times, the rest of her clothes look costumey and unflattering. I wish she would dress a little more professionally, and I don't mean stuffy first lady suits. Just a better fitted, less gimmicky, consistent style.

I don't understand your comment. Michelle Obama is a First Lady who happens to love fashion. Just because you don't agree with her choices doesn't make them "gimmicky" or ill-fitted. She has eclectic tastes and isn't afraid to mix pieces. I think she's fearless and refreshing, which is what I expect in a FLOTUS.

I could not disagree with you more. The First Lady appears to be a woman with no REAL connection to fashion whatsoever...Her "Fashion" sense seems forced and contrived, and that's probably why she isn't able to pull off many of the outfits she wears. You see what you want to see...

I agree, Mrs. Obama just doesn't seem to know how to dress appropriately, other than when she's dressed for a formal evening event (she usually looks amazing in her evening gowns!) This whole "Fashion Icon" nonsense has been pushed on her by the media, and her over-the-top adoring fans who need somebody to adore...If you look at photos of her back when she was dating the President, she looked anything but stylish, and she is probably still that person. She should just be herself, there's no shame in NOT being a "Style Icon" and she's really not fooling anybody anyway....

The dress would have been a stunner without the sleeves - they're what give it the look of
a nurse's uniform - but Mrs. Obama is so beautiful she looks great anyway.

By the way, no offense to the nurses of the world! Nothing more reassuring and beautiful when you're lying sick in a hospital bed than having an angel in white tending to you! Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and expert care!

I think it's about time that first lady can dress "normal". all the other first ladies seemed to be so stiff looking, uncomfortable in their clothes. she wear nice classy looking things. a good classic look.
