Likely Voters is all Republicans want. Let the public be stupid and misinformed, and you'll always get elected. That is why our nation is on the brink of chaos that it is.

It is absolutely bizarre that 47% still prove of Obama. What more damage does he have to do to the U.S. to take their minds off mall sales and sports stats, and concentrate on FACTS of his presidency?

Sorry...people just see the Republicans as worse. I don't think cutting taxes for the rich, and paying for them by cutting programs for the poor/middle class is really a winning message for the GOP. Why vote a party into power that plans to make your standard of living worse?

But let's not act like Obama hasn't been damaged by the current economy. He's taken a pretty good hit, even if his approvals are higher than they should be.

And then the

Shared sacrifice is something the American people want. 71 percent of the public thinks what the GOP is doing by not willing to negotiate on taxes or corporate loopholes is a bad thing. Will this resonate in the next election? People don't always vote for what they truly believe in this country which is sad, but it is a reality I have been willing to accept.

The GOP is too disorganized right now to be taken seriously. Even though Obama has a long way to go, to be in positive territory with his approval, I have seen the unfavorables for Romney and the other GOP candidates, and they are not great. They haven't changed much in a few months, whereas Obama's approval does change. As it stands now, he could lose Florida but the election is a long way away, and as we get closer to the election, we'll start seeing an increase of people who are planning to vote.

No this is not a meaningless poll. I mean, this is what the results would be if there was to be as good turnout as 2008. I'm not saying there will or there won't, but these other polls I've seen over the past few weeks seem bogus. Any pollster that has Perry or Bachmann neck to neck with Obama should go out of business. THey are the worst kind of liars, because everyone including Karl Rove knows, both would lose badly to Obama.

The GOP is sacrificing their own interests to take our nation's future down with them. Not raising the debt ceiling is not an option. I mean, it would be nice to live in a country where everyone paid their fair share, and we had enough regulations to make sure corporate loopholes, were ancient history, but that isn't going to happen in a country that just loves it's de-regulation. Therefore, this is the price we pay for the out of control spending for 8 years that went unpaid for. As for Obama's spending, he never denied in his campaign what he wanted to do. He wanted health care with a public option and an investment in our economy. It was one of the big reasons he got elected. I think on many of his ideas, Americans got to 2nd base in support of these things, but got duped by the myths from right wing third party groups.

So now that the more level headed gop senators have told the tea party and the house freshman to shove it.... Obama could not have played this better. Poor butterflies...

Yes, this should really show the country why Republicans should control the Senate. A centrist republican majority in the Senate, and an enthusiatic Republican super-majority in the House, and things will get done.

Personally, I'm thrilled with what I've heard so far:

Elimination of the Alternative Minimum Tax
Reduction of top bracket rate from 35% to 29%

There are a lot of cuts proposed, and I'm not sure what the revenue increasers are (ending some tax deductions?). This could look pretty good.

Bukama, are you defying your leader Grover Norquist as well as the tea party? You cannot have new revenues as part of any plan as Grover and the tea party spoke personally to a higher power and that is what they were told. This kind of attitude is borderline insurrection!

Had this been a representative poll of likely voters, rather than one of the most biased poll of adults I have ever seen, the gaps on most partisan issues would have been a good 15 points to the right of what they are here. I really don't think that 15 point figure is an exaggeration.

Not as good as a Rass poll?
