'Dexter' Season Six Preview, Trailer Tackle Faith; Comic-Con Reveals Details (VIDEO)

Dexter's Next Victim: God

Though he doesn't quite put much stock in repentance, you'll have to forgive Dexter Morgan if he's got a hard time putting his faith in a merciful higher power.

Born in his mother's blood, adopted and then left far too early, finally happy and then robbed of the woman who made him semi-human, it's been a rough life for the forensic expert at the Miami Metro Police Homicide Division, and an ever-grinding, senses-assaulting bag of confusion and disappointment for him over the past five years.

Having lost a woman he loved once again, he's in no mood for the crimes committed against the backdrop of a promise of fake salvation. But he's also got a young son to raise, and at Comic-Con on Thursday, the conversation at the show's panel turned to how he'll give Harrison a base of faith from which to work.

No worries, though; the show ain't getting mushy

"It's done in true 'Dexter' style, so it's a lot of fun and it's through his prism," producer Sara Colleton told the audience (via HitFix.com).

Another thing to be excited about? Dexter is back to his killing ways, star Michael C. Hall promised. And with the new season's trailer out, you don't just have to take it on faith that he's telling the truth.

Also teased in the trailer: new guest stars Colin Hanks and Mos Def. The season kicks of Sunday, October 2nd
