We may never see another own goal this season as crazy as this one. Arsenal's Carl Jenkinson put the ball past his own goalkeeper in freakish fashion just before halftime of Saturday's match against FC Cologne.
In the 47th minute, the Arsenal defender tried intercepting a pass over the top and failed to clear it. Instead, he punted the ball toward his own goal, causing the ball to sail over the goalkeeper's head and into the net.
Jenkinson put his hands on the back of his head and barely moved as the own goal cut their lead to 2-1, giving FC Cologne a chance to come back.
Fortunately for Jenkinson, Arsenal held on to the lead and earned the win.
It may not have been as embarrassing as Vitaliy Nedilko's own goal -- which cost Volyn Lutsk the game against Kryvbas Krivyi Rig earlier this month -- but it definitely ranks up there as one of the greatest own goals ever.
