Dallas Cowboys Cuts: Marion Barber, Roy Williams, Leonard Davis Released

Cowboys Make Some Cuts

It appears a few former pro bowlers are getting the big heave from Big D.

According to ESPNDallas.com, the Cowboys have released running back Marion Barber and receiver Roy Williams.

ESPN's Adam Schefter
also reported that Pro Bowl guard Leonard Davis and kicker Kris Brown will be cut.

The cuts will contribute to the Cowboys effort to get under the $120.4 million salary cap. According to the Dallas Morning News, the team is currently $18 million over the cap.

Barber, who was a tough runner for the Cowboys for several years, saw his production wane last season as he was hampered by injuries. The writing seemed to be on the wall for Barber when the Cowboys spent a 3rd round draft pick on Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murrayin April.

In an effort to clear enough space under the salary cap, Owner Jerry Jones said earlier Tuesday morning that he had told several players to not bother going to training camp because they would be cut.
