UFOs Exist ... At Least On Google Earth, If You're Gullible

At first glance, Google Earth has given us the smoking-gun UFO photos many of us have been waiting for all our lives.

On second glance, it's back to the old drawing board.

A view of Cape Town, South Africa, on Google Earth appears to show a remarkably clear daylight UFO, flying above a mountain. In the picture, reportedly taken on July 15, the circular craft can first be seen in the distance as the Google Earth program pans around to take in a panorama vista.

It's only when the scene zooms in on a mountain and ocean in the background that the unidentified object comes into almost crystal clear view.

"The first thing I noticed was it looks like an example of a stitched together image where someone used an iPhone app that lets you put a fake UFO into a photo," said Marc Dantonio, chief photo and video analyst for the Mutual UFO Network, the largest international organization dedicated to studying and solving the UFO enigma.

Dantonio knows a few things about what makes an image real or fake. His Connecticut-based company, FX Models, creates special effects and models for the History Channel and the Learning Channel in addition to holding numerous defense contracts with the Navy, Congress and the U.S. Joint Chiefs in Washington, D.C.

He said that just because an otherworldly image of an alleged alien ship shows up on a site like Google Earth doesn't necessarily mean that it's totally credible.

"Think about it. If you have that photo and you go, 'Oh, my God, look what I caught on this picture!', are you just going to then quietly stitch it together with the rest of your pictures and stick it in Google? I don't think so. I'm very skeptical," Dantonio told The Huffington Post.

One Web commenter wrote: "Just because it's clear, do not assume it's fake."

Dantonio disagrees. "I see four to six stitching borders -- or separate photos that are stitched together by the person who then uploaded it to Google," he said. "This is a whole bunch of separate images that are then run into a program which puts them all together.

"I think that they knew full well what they were uploading and they did it with a smile on their faces. And what's happened is just what they wanted."

The UFO in question looks remarkably like many previously-reported craft known as S4 -- the designation of a special location at the fabled Area 51 in Nevada where, supposedly, research was conducted on captured alien ships.

"The UFO is the classic S4 Area 51 UFO. We have a new set of UFO models that we're making called the UFO History Makers Series, and that S4 is in our first series," Dantonio said. "Whether those UFOs are real or not is immaterial -- but they've had an indelible mark on UFOlogy."

Yes, we live at a moment in history when computers and super-fast software programs can whip up a UFO faster than you can spell ET.

Dantonio cautions that seeing is not always believing -- at least as far as his eyes and experience tell him as he looks at the South Africa image.

"It's very clear that there's been a tremendous amount of image manipulation here. I can see the Photoshop brush markings, and the stitching borders," he said.

If you want to check out the actual Google Earth imagery, here are the coordinates you can punch in on the site:
34°21'12.68"S 18°29'23.97"E

Note this is not a user loaded photo, but an actual image contained within the Google Earth software.

I lived in Gulf Breeze Florida during the early 90s. I did not believe in the sightings people said they had there, even though people were coming from as far away as China to see them. But then one night something was walking on our rooftop. I was so scared I could not move. It also took a stick or something and dragged it along the outside of the house, and tapped on the walls and windows and doors like it was trying to come in. It started happening every night, and it scared the hell out of me so bad I could not move. My neighbors had the same problem and our rooftops were too slanted for a human being to run on them especially in the dark.

One night, at 2am, I was on the phone with a friend who could hear it in the background and he called the police. They said they had lots of reports like that and stayed in the parking lot for a couple of weeks at night. It did not happen when they were there. We moved, and never found out what it was. Some of my neighbors had many bad dreams and trouble sleeping for sure. My son was little then, and it still bothers him now as a grown man.

It's really unfortunate, but since sophisticated digital manipulation of video and still pictures is in reach for just about anyone these days, photographic 'evidence' of UFOs has pretty much become useless. Sightings that can be corroborated by multiple witnesses and/or multiple photographic recordings that can be checked against each other are the only ones that warrant much consideration.

Did you know MFON is a government run investigative service, they have a direct line to the U.S. government and that means cover up. Did you know that in the 60 years they have been investigating UFO's and have had 10's of thousands of photos and video submitted not one has been certified a real UFO or likely a UFO, these guys are the biggest fraud in the World, not one word is towards finding the truth, they only surpess it. Think of a Rat they lies to you all the time who comes to mind, no not Obama, MUFON.....

Let's first start with a baseline. Say this photo is true. It still does not mean that little green men from Mars are piloting it. It is far more likely this is nothing more than military aircraft.Look at the A-12 Avenger II, 1983 mind you! Everyone would of sworn it to be a UFO. But, it would only be because "we" can't identify the flying object, not because of alien invasion.

But coming in from another Galaxy it is far more likely they would "not" be doing it within our visual light spectrum as it is too heavy. In other words, there is only so much of the spectrum of light we "as people" can see - the rest we can't . Dogs can hear higher frequency than humans can yet the sound is there none-the-less! We talk on the telephone, our conversations travel at the speed of light, as with fiber optics. An advanced race that travels half-way across the universe is also going to use light or something more superior, presently unknown to mankind.

Do we really believe they are going to get into some clunky spinning disk with doors and hinges on them? Little windows to see out of? An elementary background in physics should help anyone see the futility and great humour in this belief -- to think otherwise is highy unintelligent.

The A-12 could easily have been mistaken for an ET-type UFO but it was never built. Agree with you about the "clunky" nature of a lot of UFO pix though. Many of them look like (and possibly are!) pie tins somebody tossed in the air....

Roman, you may be the most intelligent guy on earth, but there are plenty of extremely intelligent people who believe that we are being visited by non humans in "clunky" metal craft.

Dr. Michio Kaku told me personally that he does, but there's also astronauts Dr Edgar Mitchel, Gordon Cooper, Lord Hill Norton, former head of NATO, Paul Hellyer, former defense secretary of Canada, John Mack, former head of Psychiatry at Harvard, Allen Hynek, former director of Project Blue Book, (and chief astronomer for the Smithsonian Institute etc.

You better be pretty smart if you're going to doubt the intelligence (or scientific training) of these guys.

I recognize the shape of the ufo. It is same shape as the Pleiadian seven meter beamship photographed by Billy Meier in Switzerland between 1975 and 1976. I can not tell if this picture it is real. But yeah how and why did it get there. Well I look at it as a nice photo of a ufo and nothing more. What I know is real is the original something I have written about on my website Meiersaken.info

Think "outside of the box" for a change........open your minds.......

Here's the thing...look at the angle of the shadow on the disk, then look at the angle of the shadow on the hillside; the disk's shadow is about 30 degrees above horizontal, but the hillside's shadow is about 50 or more degrees above the horizontal. This can only happen when the two images are subjected to different sources of light (different angles). Since the sun's rays hit the Earth in virtually parallel lines, the two images were exposed at different times, or at different places, and the image is unquestionably faked. That does not mean all UFOs are fake...it just means this particular image is faked.

Blah...sometimes I get tired of hearing about UFOs... I see them everyday... sometimes they turn out to be flies... other times moths. (Unidentified Flying Objects, heh).

They are not here to harm us .......obviously.......considering we continue to inhabit and populate the earth.......as we are not a race that has become extinct.......they must be here for a reason......it's just we have not yet figured that out.......

If UFOs do represent some sort of extraterrestrial intelligent presence (which I have to say, I seriously doubt), they could possibly be "parenting" us as a species, nudging us along the old evolutionary pathway. If so, I have to say, they seem to be doing a lousy job of it so far....
