Michelle Obama Stocks Up At ASOS (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 07/26/2011 9:31 am   Updated: 09/25/2011 5:12 am

Looks like Michelle Obama has been spending some time shopping online!

The first lady stepped out to a Joining Forces Cookout for National Guard and Reserve and Active Duty members and their families in New Hampshire on Sunday wearing ASOS' Midi Dress in Check Print (still on sale here).

We are huge fans of ASOS -- check out this Flat Lock Cross-Body Bag in our StyleList 7.

And FLOTUS must be too, having previously been spotted in the style website's wares. She sported two pieces from the ASOS Africa collection during her trip to the country last month -- a printed blouse in Johannesburg and a beaded collar jacket in Gaborone.

According to the site, ASOS Africa is now in its third season and the clothing is created out of hand-woven fabric made in Mombasa, Kenya. Portions of the sales are donated to "support the work of SOKO (a workshop dedicated to developing a sustainable and long term solution to the economic problems in the Kenyan community)."

Take a look at Michelle in ASOS.

I was hoping there would be some new pixs of FLOTUS fashion - I so hate the regular news!
Love the red and white dress!

Michelle Obama is her own person and I don't judge her because of her husband. I think she is out there doing good things. She seems to be humble and doesn't try to be in the political limelight. I think she is a fine First Lady. If she wasn't a First Lady, she still does wonderful things to help out different causes and that is commendable.

Hmm interesting wonder what they think when she fills out the order form online and the address is 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. I guess the package isn't delivered to the door, but to security first.

Shopping in Northern VA has become a bit scary lately.
There is some dude who is stabbing young women in the buttocks with a razor!
Thank heavens no one has been seriously hurt, but it is something to watch out for.
Hope they catch this creep who is doing this !

What I love about the First Lady is that although I may not care for all of her outfit choices, she wears each and every one of them with dignity, class, and extreme self confidence.

I could wear the most expensive, trendiest outfit and I doubt I could carry it off like any outfit she has ever worn, regardless of how much it cost or how fashionable/trendy it is.

I admire her for helping Kenya by buying clothes from them to support ASOS. I remember watching on television seeing some women in Africa making necklace beads out of paper and made colorful, pretty necklaces to sell; they were able to buy brick and mortar to build brick houses for themselves with the money they earned by making necklace beads. Fantastic!

african women are ingenious, resourceful and hardworking. not so sure about the men though.

You sound like a real sexist bigot. What research did you do to confirm this is true of ALL african women?
10:53 PM on 07/27/2011
Yes the African women seem to be suffering alot more than the men over there. The African women who do try work to earn a living and provide for themselves and their children. African women get raped just for doing the work of provisions of looking for firewood to cook their food and sterilize their drinking water because the African men get jealous of them for being independant. I think the biggest problem with African men is lack of education, although more African boys get educated than than girls which is why Oprah Winfrey started a school for African girls there.

Michelle has ten times more class than all the haters making comments here today. Disrespecting Michelle is like spitting on your own mother.

At least she found something to be proud of about the USA. Most Black folks live a lifetime and find little if anything to be PROUD about of how they have been treated in the USA, We live in a "Different USA" than whites. Mrs Obama worked and was able to escape Black America when she went to Princeton and the President never had to deal with Black America. They are not the only ones, there are many Blacks 50 and under that have not had to encounter what it's like to be Black in America. They are the fortunate ones.

Good comment! Couldn't have said it better myself. White people DON'T have a clue what Black people go through...none! The first thing that comes out of the filthy pie holes is "get over it". Well, as usual, Blacks have to crawl under it before we get over it. And when Mrs. Obama said she was finally proud about this country she knew what she was saying and we knew what she was thinking about. She voiced her feeling and Whites were immediately up in arms like we're supposed to kiss their asses for the rest of our lives! So, here's to you Peachie49 cause you hit the nail on the head. You're a Great American!

I assume you know all the struggles white people have had over the years. Have you reconciled the blacks who sold their own people into slavery?

Roy, over 365,000 Union troops died in the Civil War, 282,000 were wounded, some horribly so. My own great grandfather was one who survived to come home to his devastated farm and 11 children. There have been and continue to be, a lot of sacrifices made by many, to absolve the mortal sin of slavery.
It would be nice if these sacrifices were at least acknowledged by younger generations.
Given the state of contemporary education, many young people may not even know these facts.
