Sounds like Slim's is trading in fries for foie gras.

On Monday, the iconic San Francisco music venue announced plans for a Monday night pop-up dinner series starting in August. The venue has booked chefs for the first three weeks -- The Jetset Chef, Cathead’s BBQ, and Radio Africa and Kitchen, respectively -- and is looking to book the last two Mondays.

“We’re going to give it a whirl for August and see how it goes,” the venue’s publicist, Tracey Buck, told The Huffington Post. “If it does well, we’ll keep it going.” Pricing will be determined by each chef, and items will be sold a la carte.

While the announcement has been met with more than a little snarkiness, we applaud Slim’s for thinking up innovative ways to keep independent music venues financially stable. “We have the space and we could use the extra money,” said Buck. “We serve food in our venue and pop-ups are all the rage, so why not?” (Yeah, why not, Weekly?)

Buck also said they hope to incorporate films and DJs in the future. Can we expect a pop-up dinner with a band? “No, I don’t think so,” said Buck. “We wouldn’t want dinner to compete with a band.”

Enough said. But just in case the venue ever did consider a pop-up dinner and a show, we’ve offered a list of our suggested pairings in the slideshow below. (What’s that Kreayshawn? You’ve got swag busting out your ovaries? Well we’ll have the nettles busting out some manchego.)
