WATCH: International Aid To Horn Of Africa $800 Million Short

Though 3,500 people flee Somalia per day and children have been left to die on the side of the road, the international aid response to the famine-plagued country has still come up $800 million short.

An estimated 12 million people are desperate for humanitarian aid, but the much-needed funding isn't pouring in. Oxfam said it needs $1 billion and that the international community's response "still isn't enough."

In addition to needing more donations, activists are concerned that the available funding may not be reaching those in need since Al-Shabaab, a powerful Islamist insurgent group, has banned aid to the country.
