CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Associated Press) -- A West Virginia public vocational school has been shut down indefinitely after traces of methamphetamine were found throughout the building during an investigation of the principal and a teacher.

State Police Sgt. Andy Perdue said Monday that traces of the drug were found in the ducts, principal's office, hallways and bathrooms of the Boone County Career and Technical Center. Perdue says the teacher admitted he smoked meth with the principal in the principal's office.

He says police do not have evidence the school was used as a meth lab.

Teacher Jack Turley faces charges of manufacturing meth and procuring Sudafed for making meth. Principal Keith Phipps faces charges of purchasing over the legal limit of Sudafed.

Their attorneys didn't return calls seeking comment.

I don't get it, why is this in the education section? It is more of a crime story than education story.

A sad and pathetic case -- drugs can certainly be insidious. But did anyone notice the link on the home page headlining that a teacher smoked meth in his classroom? First, drug use in a classroom was never mentioned in the article. Second, isn't it really bigger news that a principal was using drugs on campus? Which is more significant: a soldier smoking crack or a general smoking crack? Seems like yet another opportunity to engage in some good old-fashioned teacher-bashing. Tiresome, intellectually lazy, and wrong.

I have never tried Meth, which is a good thing because knowing me I know I would have loved it but I see the pro's and con's of it:
1: Absolute winner for weightloss, screw slimfast Pro.
2: This is a dentist nightmare, Con.
Well, the way I see it you have a 50/50 chance

Good Lord!! What is the world coming to? I pray that this Principal and Teacher, never have the right to teach or be over any school again! It's hard enough for our young people without having this sort of administration and faculty as an example!

Horrible for the students, now their "school has been shut down indefinitely."
02:58 AM on 07/27/2011
And what "vocation" were they training the students for?

Sadly, true. It is one of the few "vocations" that is still hiring. For some reason, they seem to have a high turn-over rate.

What a disgrace..I just hope this Principle and Teacher never have another opportunity to work in a school. I hope both get sentenced accordingly.

A good time to bring back my belief in school's being able to use corporal punishment again... This time for the ADMINISTRATORS.

I'm not impressed. When I was in high school, teachers would smoke marijuana in the outdoor smoking area with the students -- and we all know that marijuana is a gateway drug for Doritos and White Castle Burgers.

kamicha -- What you say in a lighthearted way is really a pathetic, not to mention unlawful, situation. Those teachers should have been booted out of their jobs. Is it so hard for these "educators" to keep their smoke at home? No wonder kids today show little respect for the law. BTW, if M.J. gives a craving for Doritos and White Castle burgers, well, that's evidence enough it should remain illegal!

The last time I craved either I was hopped up on good old-fashioned alcohol. Should we make that illegal again? ;)

What is the legal limit for Sudafed? Would the cashier tell you if you had too much? Do police just show up at your door? Guess I will use something else when I get sick, just to be careful.
