The Explorer of the Seas is a popular floating resort. The waters are crowded with sea-worthy vessels, so to make planning easier, we've done all the prep work for a cruise vacation. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on cruise ships, here is a tip sheet offering all the key information one could ever need to know about the Explorer of the Seas.
Destination Paradise
The Royal Caribbean
sails to Bermuda, the Bahamas and other destinations in the Caribbean. Along the way, the ship docks in Nassau and King's Wharf in the Bahamas, as well as the line's private island, Coco Cay.
Grand Ship
The Explorer of the Seas is a Voyager class cruise ship and thus one of the largest ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet. The center of the ship, the Royal Promenade, is lined with luxury boutiques and services -- but a host of activity-oriented amenities make this a family-oriented cruise ship.
Special Features
The Explorer of the Seas features an ice skating rink, rock climbing wall, a full-size basketball court and a 9-hole miniature golf course. The Casino Royale gives passengers a place to test their poker and blackjack skills, and the day spa provides a relaxation spot after a long day of sightseeing.
Accommodations

has a window that opens into the Royal Promenade, the ship's central shopping area. Families can stay in a

Excursions
Passengers recommended the
in Puerto Rico. One reviewer did complain that the price of a bottle of water doubles between the bus and the zipline -- but if you can wait, the company gives you free water after your adventure.
Dining Experience
Each of the three levels of the
is named for a different explorer: da Gama, Magellan and Columbus. In addiiton, the ship offers a buffet in the Windjammer dining room on the Lido deck. Johnny Rockets is a hamburger and milkshake restaurant open every evening. The ship also offers 24-hour room service.
Maiden Voyage
The Explorer's maiden voyage was October 28, 2000. U.S. Olympic athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee is the ship's godmother.
