'Friends' Characters Sex Life Breakdown: Joey Comes In First, Chandler Last

'Friends' Cast Had A Lot Of Sex

To have a hit sitcom, there seems to be one crucial ingredient: sex.

Sometimes there's a lot of it ("Sex and the City") and sometimes there's not a lot of it ("Everybody Loves Raymond") but regardless of how much viewers actually see, sex plays a very large role in story lines.

In the typical sitcom formula, there's usually just one insatiable character who is viewed with a mix of scorn and envy. But it's rare for everyone on a show to score.

Unless that show is 'Friends.'

A recent study shows that the characters on the NBC hit series have gotten laid a ton. All told, after 10 seasons, the Central Perk-dwelling crew had a whopping 85 partners.

The individual breakdown of this figure is pretty much what we'd expect.

Joey, played by Matt LeBlanc, came in first with 17 partners. (Just 17?) Only 23.5 percent led to long-term relationships.

Oddly, the ditzy Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow) and the neurotic Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) tied for second with 16 each. Half of Ross's escapades turned into something serious, while Phoebe ended up dating 37.5 percent of her partners.

Though Jennifer Aniston recently played a sex maniac in "Horrible Bosses", her character Rachel Green had 14 partners -- but an impressive yield! 71.4 percent of her nights of passion led to lasting relationships, including, of course, with Ross.

Monica Geller, played by Courteney Cox, finished just shy of Rachel, with 13 lovers, 38.5 percent of whom turned into something special.

And then there's Chandler. Played by Matthew Perry, this jokester never really had a knack for the ladies (except for Monica). After 10 seasons, Chandler only had nine partners, 33.3 percent of whom were long-term.

Well, there we have it. Could they be any more predictable?
