Matt McFall. Philadelphia Grateful Dead Fan, Kicked In The Head By Deer Outside Furthur Concert

Deadhead Takes Deer Hoof To The Head At Concert

After all these years, the scene in the parking lot outside a Grateful Dead concert is still a wild place.

Just before entering Philadelphia's Mann Center amphitheater for Saturday's Furthur show, featuring Grateful Dead founding members Phil Lesh and Bob Weir, a man was kicked in the head by an out-of-control eight-point buck, NBC Philadelphia reports.

Matt McFall was packing up his tailgating gear when he saw the deer coming straight for him.

“He avoided everybody, he ran around everybody, when he came to me I actually took a defensive stance and put my fists up,” McFall told 102.9 MGK’s John DeBella Wednesday morning. “He tried to jump over me and ended up kicking me in the side of the head.”

McFall being a most dedicated Deadhead, decided to tough it out and went into the show, only to find out later that he suffered a fractured jaw, concussion, and a severe bruise above his ear.
