Water Parks In Delaware: A Huffington Post Travel Guide

Water parks in Delaware are few and far between. There are only a handful, all of which are located downstate. Delaware water parks, like the state itself, run small, but what they may lack in thrills, they make up for in cool fun for families. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on family fun parks, here is our guide to all of the key information visitors need to know about Delaware water parks.

Jungle Jim's River Safari Water Park

Delaware's largest water park,
, gives sand-weary families a change of pace from the crowded beaches and boardwalk in busy Rehoboth. The park offers a taste of the exotic, though no passport is necessary.

The Lazy River

The safari-themed Lazy River allows visitors to float their cares away, free from the fear of other rides' splashing and crashing. It is one of the park's signature rides, along with the much-faster Giant Slides.

Other Activities

Jungle Jim's also offers a wave pool, an activity pool and, of course, a kiddie pool. In addition, the park has non-water attractions, including bumper boats, go carts and mini golf.

Pizza, Ice Cream And More

The River Safari Cafe serves pizza, burgers, sandwiches, snacks and ice cream. No outside food or drinks are allowed in the water park.

Safety Record

There have been no reported serious injuries at Jungle Jim's. All lifeguards are

Killens Pond State Park Water Park

Located within the picturesque Killens Pond State Park, the Killens Pond Water Park offers waterfalls, fountains and slides. The water park offers a convenient way to cool off while camping in one of the park's campgrounds, and also makes a great Southern Delaware day trip.

The Mushroom Fountain

The Mushroom Fountain is the centerpiece of the Main Pool, which features underwater benches, a lilypad fun walk and a zero-depth entrance. Good for all ages, the fountain rains sheets of water from its mushroom-shaped top.

Twist Slides

The twist water slides are a big attraction for thrill-seekers. The younger set can enjoy the baby pool and the Tot Lot. Since it's located in a state park, the water park is relatively serene and bucolic. You'll be surrounded by nature rather than inundated by cartoon mascots.

Pond Provisions

Killens Pond has a snack bar offering typical snack-bar fare. No outside food or drink are allowed inside the park, but there is a picnic area outside the gates. Alcohol is prohibited.
