It's evil of me I know, but the first thing I thought of when I read the headline, was: Oh! I didn't know they really read anything in LA. Sorry Angelinos, I know you do of course.

there's a LA Times book section?

seems like there is a column or some writing more or less related to books on Sunday, buried in with the music and the plays and the visual arts and dance - all crammed into about 2 pages (less display ads)

The real question is "Is there a future for the LA Times?"
The answer, apparently, is "No, at least not as long as Sam Zell keeps prioritizing short term profits over producing a quality product..."
And yes, I know that newspapers across the country are hurting, but Zell made the LAT's problems much worse than they needed to be...
