Just For Laughs, the annual comedy festival held in Montreal, invited "WTF" host Marc Maron to deliver the 2011 Keynote Address. Maron gave the speech Friday, and presented a heartfelt sentiment about the fickleness of the entertainment industry, as well as the nobility of the art. He also paid tribute to three beloved voices in comedy who passed away since the last Just For Laughs festival.

Maron recounted his career transformation now familiar to comedy fans: About three years ago, he was fired from Air America, and has hinted that he contemplated suicide. After starting his interview show "WTF," which now rivals "This American Life" as the most-downloaded weekly podcast on iTunes, he has experienced a career high on his own terms. Just this week, Maron has been seen everywhere from "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" to Slate's Culture Gabfest in addition to his Montreal appearances.

The audio of Maron's keynote address is available as a free download on his site. The Comic's Comic also has a full transcript. Check out this clip below for the portion where Maron pays tribute to his departed friends and colleagues Greg Giraldo, Robert Schimmel and Mike DeStefano.
