CLEVELAND — Ubaldo Jimenez has passed his physical, completing a trade that sends him from the Colorado Rockies to the Cleveland Indians.

The surprising Indians announced during Sunday's game against Kansas City that the deal was done. They hope Jimenez will anchor their rotation as they try to overtake first-place Detroit in the AL Central.

Colorado gets minor league pitchers Alex White and Joe Gardner, first baseman Matt McBride and a player to be named, who is expected to be Drew Pomeranz. White and Pomeranz are considered the top two pitching prospects in Cleveland's organization.

Jimenez's physical took place at the Indians' spring training complex in Arizona.

Jimenez is a great pitcher and the Rox will miss him, but he just wasn't performing this season. He was on his way to a loss with the Padres in his last game, giving up 4 runs in the 1st before the trade was official. I can't say I wish the tribe any luck, but I hope the man can find his groove under new management.

Great pickup! Huge Tribe fan. Not saying this is gonna win us the World Series, but I love our chances of now closing out the admittedly lackluster Central and maybe do some damage in the playoffs.

Stupid headline. This trade was not shocking. Ubaldo's trade had been theorized for more than a week and a half now--just not to the Indians.

Ubaldo is not an ace. He was the No. 1 pitcher in the Colorado Rockies' rotation. That's all. Not all No. 1 pitchers are aces.
