Aurora Woman Survives Gunshot To Head During Robbery

Two Aurora women left an apartment building on Friday night when a man jumped out of some bushes with a gun and shot one of the women in the head. Police are still searching for the attacker.

The Denver Post reports that the two women were walking in the apartment complex parking lot when the gunman approached them. He demanded their car keys and purses, but when one of the women hesitated and took a step back from him, the man fired one shot at her.

The victim, who wants to remain anonymous, spoke with 7News describing the gunman as looking high with bloodshot eyes:

I was mad that he was trying to take my keys from me, so I shook my head no and stepped back. That’s when he put the gun to my forehead and shot. He didn’t even think about it. He didn’t stop for a second. He just did it.

The woman shot was very lucky, Aurora Police say she was just grazed by the bullet and not injured seriously, according to Fox31. But the two victims told 7News that because of all of the blood, they thought the the woman that was shot would die.

Fox31 spoke with an apartment resident who overheard the incident, she describes the women moments after the gunshot was heard:

Her friend was hovered over [the victim] and I said what happened and she said my friend got shot in the head. I looked, I saw [a] man running and he was carrying what appeared to be a white purse.

According to the Aurora Sentinel, the victim, who was released from the hospital on Saturday, is expected to fully recover from the gunshot wound.

Police are looking for a man in his mid-20s, described as black with an average build, and between 5’ 9” to 6’ tall. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black baseball cap.
