WBBM-TV in Chicago has been buffeted with criticism for airing a video of a four-year-old boy saying that he wanted a gun.
The footage of the boy saying he wanted a gun when he got older was part of a video package on a neighborhood shooting. The boy appeared to say that he wanted to get a gun when he got older. But an unedited video showed that a freelance cameraman asked him questions about wanting to be a police officer when he grew up.
The Society of Professional Journalists says the decision to edit the original video "reveals a lack of understanding of the very basic tenets of journalism."
