Jesus Valois Bragged About Shooting, Winds Up Facing Attempted Murder Charges

Last August, Tony Mireles was shot about 20 times with a handgun while sitting on a front porch in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood.

So it must have been a disturbing flashback when Jesus Valois allegedly walked up to him at the Fiesta del Sol last week, fists clenched and swearing loudly. “I’m the one that shot (you) 20 times!” Valois allegedly shouted at him, according to the Chicago Tribune. “What you gonna do about it?”

The smart thing, it turns out: Mireles slipped away into the crowd and notified a police officer, who detained the 19-year-old Valois. He is now facing charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery, WGN reports.

Until the incident, authorities apparently had no leads on Mireles's shooter.

Court documents show that the repeated shootings last year wounded Mireles in the abdomen, pelvis, buttocks and both legs.

If Valois is convicted of attempted murder, a Class X felony, he could face between six and 30 years in prison for that charge alone. In addition to aggravated battery for last year's attack, he's also charged with simple assault, a misdemeanor, for the confrontation last week.
