'The Dark Knight Rises' Set Photo Spoilers: Batman, Bane Battle (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

First Posted: 08/01/11 03:58 PM ET   Updated: 10/01/11 06:12 AM ET

As the nation gears up for next summer's final, epic chapter in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, Pittsburgh is getting a sneak preview of all the action.

The stand-in for Gotham (replacing Chicago in Nolan's first two films), the Steel City is hosting a large chunk of the production for the film, including some battle scenes that were shot over the weekend. Taking place at Carnegie Mellon University, the heroes and villains were out in full force -- and so were the paparazzi, providing scintillating photos that tease and sometimes spoil some of the plot.

We see Christian Bale, as Batman, taking on Tom Hardy's Bane, the masked man in the jacket. He's an inmate at Arkham Asylum before busting out and taking the other prisoners with him, as shown in another photo. Also pictured are Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as Gotham special assignment cop John Blake, and Marion Cotillard as Bruce Wayne employee Miranda Tate. Not pictured are Anne Hathaway as Catwoman or Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon.

Bane is supposed to be super-sized, which he certainly is not in the photo; perhaps CGI will give him the mass needed to break Batman's back, as he does in the storyline for the film.

We also get a first look at Batman's Batmobile tumbler, including video of three of them being driven in the streets, as well as zoomed out video of a gigantic battle scene.

I watch these types of movies for the villians..I just love all their villians..Remember hokey Mr.Freeze...at least the newer Batman movies have a better dialog, but then it takes away from the comic book effect....Why did they ony make 2 Fantastic4 movies??..Think Thor was their spinoff....well see you guys at the movies

I like the beginning of this clip where Batman is just standing around like a schmuck waiting to be told when to fight.

I'm sure people can't wait for another movie about a good guy beating up a bad guy to teach us that the only real way to solve your problems is to punch them. Just like real life!

I'm so happy they made the batmobile look like it's made out of cardboard. I've always thought it should look like a giant shoe box, and Nolan nailed it!

Really liked the first one, hated the second one, and this one doesn't look all that great.

Since when is Bane a midget?

Anne Hathaway looks silly as Catwoman.

Why is everything during the day????? I'm actually excited to see how Nolan uses Batman in the Daylight, all of the other films are afraid to do that.

I hope Nolan can impart some of his sensibility to Snyder's Superman reboot

Adam West = Batman. I know there are others, but hey, who else could do that cool dance...

Keeping it simple.

My son can do it, lol. He did it at his 8th grade school luncheon, though he did add just a tad bit of swagger to it since he was lip syncing C.B.'s "Look At Me Now". The kids thought he was so cool, but I doubt they knew he was doing the "Batman" dance.

I wish Nolan would keep going with this. There are some fringe characters that could be made really cool with Nolan's realistic treatment: a Zodiac-esque Calendar Man, for example.
12:33 PM on 08/04/2011
Yeah it would be nice to see a movie that points out that Batman is a detective first and have him actually solve a complex crime (I was thinking Riddler though as a serial killer).

I've wanted to see John Oliver as the riddler since movie one. (Movie one of the re-boot that is)
