Kirsten Dunst Talks Going Nude In 'Melancholia', Snaggle Fangs & Middle School Jeans (PHOTOS)

Kirsten Dunst covers British Elle's September issue and inside the actress opens up, exclusively, about depression and rehab, her family, the disadvantages of dating other actors, her upcoming flick "Melancholia," and, of course, her style.

Some excerpts from the interview...

On fashion:

As for clothes, again Kirsten keeps it simple. 'I love Acne, Isabel Marant, Sofia's collection for Vuitton, Chanel and obviously Rodarte. I love getting dressed up for the red carpet, but I try to keep to my style. For big occasions I go to English twin sisters Nina and Clare Hallworth. They're stylists who take my look, make it better but keep it mellow. Some days, nothing makes you feel better than a big dress. Other days it's the total opposite. I have jeans from when I was in the seventh grade I still wear -- when I can. On thinner days...'

On her teeth:

'I love my snaggle fangs,' she laughs. 'They give me character and character is sexy. People comment, but the only person who ever told me to fix them was my mom. Mothers are always like, "Wear lipstick, put on rouge!" They can be s****y about that stuff because they love you. I just went my own way, like daughters do.'

On going naked in "Melancholia":

One of the surprises about Melancholia is Kirsten's curvaceous body. She is naked in several scenes and as Von Trier refuses any form of retouching or airbrushing, surely it caused some anxiety? 'I trusted everyone and the lighting was beautiful. I didn't work out beforehand, it was all very natural. I don't have any real body issues. I never really overeat, I shed weight in the summer, put it on in the winter and yes, I do have big boobs. People don't realize because I cover up a lot, but they are there. Big boobs.' She shrugs and smiles.

I really like her, great actress and so pretty.

I have always considered KD to be quite beautiul (despite her teeth which I have only mentioned to her ONCE! She did not take my comment in a negative way. She realized that I was just giving her my honest opinion. She has continued to come down to my home on the beach in Malibu and hang out and we go for walks etc. I think she is an enormous talent with her best performance perhaps being in "crazy/beautiful." There was also some Oscar nomination talk for "All Good Things" and, of course, she won the coveted "Best Actress" award at Cannes.

Beautiful woman! IMHO, the second-best looking blonde in Hollywood (after Alison Sweeney).
07:12 PM on 08/02/2011
She's smart. I get a chuckle when I recall the look on her face during that interview at Cannes in which she and her co-star were flanking Von Trier (who was being interviewed) and he starts that monologue about Nazis. Her face took on so many dimensions as she imperceptibly floated toward her co-star until she was almost completely hidden behind Von Trier.

Now I have an incentive to go see this movie.

I have known KD for a number of years and while she is one of the nicest people in town and also quite talented I have always been amazed that she simply never got her teeth fixed. They are a definite distraction and I know directors and producers who feel the same way. But there is a definite stubordness there and believe me more people than her mother have tried to get her to fix her teeth including me. But she likes to do things her own way so it all falls on deaf ears. It is costing her some good roles because most people do not like to see the ingenue with fangs but she will do it her way until the end.

She shouldn't have to change her teeth for anyone, my teeth are like hers and I love them, I would be like everyone else if I changed for everyone else.

So right. When did conformity and monotony become virtues?
06:57 PM on 08/02/2011
She's a beautiful, interesting woman. Why would she ever want to make herself into every other blonde in Hollywood?

04:54 PM on 08/02/2011
Oh goodie! Nude pictures! (gag me now) How many males and females alike are going to go blind seeing her all in the “buff”
05:48 PM on 08/02/2011
I highly doubt that. KD has a very good body!!!!
07:12 PM on 08/02/2011
Does she do a lot of nudity?
07:36 PM on 08/02/2011
Not a great deal but will if the role calls for it. She did a shower scene with Ryan Gosling in "All Good Things." One of the reasons she turned down "American Beauty" was that it called for a bare boob scene, however, she was only 15 when offered the part and at that age was not too wild about being topless plus it called for her character to use a lot of swearing and sexual talk and it seemed to be a bit too much for her at 15. Mena Suvari ended up playing the role and the film went on to win an Oscar for best film. KD has had some second thoughts over the years about turning down that part.

I lived in Hollywood for years once upon a time, and of all the female celebrities that I encountered in person, she was one of the few who looked better in the flesh.

Christina Ricci was another one.

Kirsten Dunst....*shudder*...Never did like her eyes; she always reminds me of that quote from "Jaws" about sharks: " And, you know, the thing about a shark... he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes."

You're no fan of striking Viking baby blues?

Guess you've never seen how they light up when she smiles.
07:27 AM on 08/03/2011
Oh, it's not the colour, mind you; it's just something about her face. "To each his/her own" best sums it up. :)
