Musicians With Famous Parents: The Top 10 To Watch

Musicians With Famous Parents

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 08/02/11 04:18 PM ET Updated: 10/02/11 06:12 AM ET

We've covered power couples and those to watch, but now we're bringing it to the next wave of celeb kids that have taken over the music industry -- or are trying to.

Sure, they have the connections and privilege -- there's a Van Halen, an Idol and even a Hilfiger -- to get their foot in the door, but each of these LA-based A-list offspring is hustling their sound to try and establish their own stardom. Some are closer to that goal than others. Listen for yourself in the videos below.

Willem Broad
1 of 11
Name: Willem Broad of FIM
Son of: Billy Idol
Sounds like: A little bit of The Dead Boys, The Clash, and The Pixies
Info: FIM's album, "Bumper to Bumper," is available via iTunes and the band's website.

It will be interesting to see who develops and has staying power. A name could help to give you a chance but only talent and hard work win the day.

Don't forget Roman Kemp, son of two famous parents Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet and Shirlie (from Pepsi and Shirlie)...he has a band called Paradise Point and they are brilliant!

Most of this stuff is really weak and formulaic, and definitely not ready to be exposed to the world. Which is one drawback to being the offspring of someone famous -- too much attention too soon, and before the kid has everything (sound, style, content, presentation) figured out.

C'mon Huffington Post...that's all you came up with???????? I guess you're dealing with budget cuts too...like in the school music programs. I guess classical musicians or anyone serious about performance aren't included....too bad for our youth ! No schooling no vocabulary!!!!!

Well I just want to say I love Indio Downey ever since I saw a photo of him and Robert at the Lakers game a few years ago. His new band is called the Big Pink Chair.

Nepotism is alive and well in commercial pop music, as it is in Hollywood. Do you know why there isn't much nepotism in classical music? Because you actually have to be good to win competitions and become internationally-known.

and totally agreed from an actual classical musician.

you have to be damm good just to make a living at it, much less become famous.

I'd fan you again if I could. The first casualties of arts & music budget cuts in schools are usually real artists and musicians. Because the students who never got that portion of the curriculum are consumers of art and music with an understanding of arts & music. So they just consume what their friends tell them to

These kids are born lucky. Mick Jagger's kid could probably get rich and famous playing the_rectal_tuba.
