Carnival Triumph is a popular floating resort. The waters are crowded with sea-worthy vessels, so to make planning easier, we've done all the prep work for a cruise vacation. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on cruise ships, here is a tip sheet offering all the key information one could ever need to know about the The Carnival Triumph.
Great Destinations
The
sails through the Eastern and Western Carribean. Three cruises leave from Galveston, Texas, and five depart from New Orleans. It cruises through ports such as Cozumel, Mexico, Belize and the Bahamas.
Mega Ship
At more than 100,000 tons, the Carnival Triumph is among the first of the Carnival mega-ships. The Triumph is one of three Destiny-class ships in the Carnival line. Everything about the ship is big, from the 200-foot corkscrew water slides to the 12-by-22-foot LED screen in the Carnival Triumph Seaside Theater.
Special Features
The highlight of the ship is a
in the center of the Triumph. Most of the public areas branch from the atrium area. Many of the public areas such as theaters and clubs span several decks, giving a more spacious feel. The ship features a casino, theater, seven bars, two dining rooms and three pools.
Accommodations
on the Triumph are generally larger than standard cabins on other cruise line. Almost 40 percent of the cabins have a balcony. Every cabin has luxury linens and storage areas. The overall color scheme highlight light-colored wood and pastels with rich accent colors.
Cost
Rates for the Triumph vary depending on the season, cruise and cabin. For example, a four-day cruise from Galveston off-season costs $279 per person for a double-occupancy interior cabin. A suite for the same cruise in season is $1,209. Longer cruises like the seven-day cruise to the Carribean and Bahamas range from $519 to 1,479 per person for a double-occupancy cabin.
Excursions
The Carnival Triumph sails to Cozumel, Belize, Isla Roatan, Freeport, Bahamas and the Florida Keys. The tour of the

The Carnival Triumph offers several options for
. The ship has two main dining rooms that serve a wide range of foods at each meal. In addition to the restaurants, the ship offers poolside snacks, a pizzeria and several coffee bars. Limited room service is available 24 hours a day.
Maiden Voyage
The
entered service in 1999. The ship is considered a Destiny-class vessel and was built along similar lines. However, with larger passenger decks and more cabins, the Triumph is even larger than the Destiny. All three Destiny-class ships -- Destiny, Triumph and Victory -- are constantly updated with the latest technical advances. The most recent addition is a 270-square-foot LED poolside video screen.
In The News
reported that Carnival Cruise Lines filed a lawsuit against BP Oil after the Gulf of Mexico spill in 2010. Because the Carnival Triumph included the Port of New Orleans as part of its regular itinerary, Carnival sought reimbursement for the loss of clients due to the oil spill. In 2007, someone claiming to be an official from
released a statement that the Triumph whould call the Port of Mobile, Ala., home. The statement turned out to be a hoax.
