Griffin O'Neal, the son of actor Ryan O'Neal and brother of actress Tatum O'Neal, was taken to the hospital yesterday afternoon after a head-on traffic collision, reports CBS Los Angeles.
O'Neal was driving in Escondido (near San Diego) when he veered into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle. He was hospitalized at the Palomar Medical Center but released later that day, a hospital spokesperson told CBS Los Angeles.
The car crash happened just hours after more O'Neal family misfortune. Griffin's younger brother Redmond was arrested earlier that day after a police officer allegedly found heroin in his car, reports the Associated Press. Because he is on probation from another drug case, he was jailed without bail.
Sister Tatum O'Neal took to Twitter last night about both incidents. Shortly after Redmond was pulled over, she tweeted, "Thanks to all who sent there well wishes for Redmond. Thank you." Later on that day she updated: "My Oneal brothers are not doing that great right now. Will take a prayer if you have it in you."
Currently, Tatum stars in a docu-series with her father Ryan O'Neal called "Ryan & Tatum: The O'Neals" on OWN. The reality show focuses on mending what was once a 25 year estrangement between father and daughter.
