Obama Birthday Plans: President Will Celebrate 50th With Family, Friends At White House

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama will be treated to a White House party for his 50th birthday and get away with friends and family to Camp David for the weekend.

Obama, who reaches the milestone birthday on Thursday, plans to spend the morning at work as usual in the Oval Office. In the afternoon, senior members of his staff will toast him in a reception in the Blue Room of the White House. And at night, he will celebrate with family and friends, including some coming in for the occasion from his hometown of Chicago.

An official said the Obamas will pay for the president's birthday party at the White House.

The president will then spend the weekend at Camp David, the private presidential retreat in Maryland's Catoctin (kuh-TAHK'-tin) Mountain Park.

For all the small minded naysayers that like to yap each and every time the President, his wife and family take a trip, eat ice cream, go on vacation, with "who's paying for this?" and "he doesn't deserve a vacation"--the President needs to stop coddling to them--take your vactions, celebrate your birthday,

After all, the same ones are saying, "in 2012, when you go back to Chicago...", Reality Check: if President Obama does not win reelection, that is when you dodos will really pay---he will be a RETIRED former US President, and his bills, office space, etc. is paid for the rest of his life by the American people. He will write some books, make speaking engagements, but he certainly will not have to pull a "9 - 5 job"! He's performing his last "work" in his lifetime right now, so eat the crows, silly people.

My Mom in law and her two cousins would rather miss the Monaco Red Cross tomorrow(Friday),they travelled to Chicago and surrendered their wallets filled with dough's on the President's 50th birthday.Iam so thrilled and dazzled as a proud DEMOCRAT.The world loves President Obama,I just know.ALLER!!!Mr.President,faire le fete......Monaco's ticket for the Red Cross is 1000 euros,and the President's campaign birthday party is $35,000 to $50,000......and my in laws wanted to miss Monaco Red Cross,OMG!!!the world is complicated,all in the name of President Obama.

I guess none of us should find it shocking that a lot of people feel the need to project their hatred to him instead of a simple Happy Birthday, but then America seems to have become a nation of completely class less, ingnoramous' who can't put their anger away for anything. Sad really that people can find no good in others to the point of petty bitterness.

I think it's telling that the Obamas have to print that they are paying for his birthday - not the taxpayer as is implied. They get ragged on every time they step out of the White House together by people asking "Who's paying for this, the taxpayer." I've been around for a long time and I've never heard such blather before. And if you mention the secret service, these people would be working with them wherever they are.
