Pat Buchanan Calls Obama 'Your Boy' To Al Sharpton, Clarifies Remark (VIDEO)

Pat Buchanan was forced to clarify some potentially controversial remarks he made on MSNBC Tuesday night.

Buchanan was on Al Sharpton's 6 PM show, having a very boisterous discussion with the Rev. about President Obama's debt deal. Sharpton was defending Obama's handling of the situation, and Buchanan was challenging his interpretation of events. He brought up the issue of the Bush tax cuts.

"And let me tell you, your boy, Barack Obama, caved in on it in 2010 and he'll cave in on it again," he said. Sharpton pounced.

"My what? My president, Barack Obama? What did you say?" he asked. "He's your boy in the ring, he's your fighter," Buchanan responded.

"He's nobody's boy," Sharpton thundered back. "He's your president and he's our president. And that's what y'all have got to get through your head."

Buchanan's comments drew outrage on Twitter, and attention across the Web, with critics saying he was using a racially loaded phrase.

On Wednesday's "Morning Joe," Buchanan sought to clarify his remarks.

"I was asked who was the big losers in these battles and the big winners, and I said one of the big losers, using boxing terminology, was 'your boy,' and I meant the president of the United States," he said. "Rev. Sharpton said my boy is the president of the United States and he's doing a rope-a-dope in the Ali fashion and he's going to finish off your crowd. Now this was taken, some folks took what I said as some kind of slur. None was meant, none was intended, none was delivered, for the record."

No matter how accomplished a black man is socially, academically and economically, people like Pat Buchanan will never accept them as worthy or equal, because of their innate belief in their superiority and sense of entitlement. It's unfortunate for them as most blacks pity them and perceive them as narcissistic self-deprecating "gentlemen".

There's no way to know if Pat's a racist here or not. He's talking with Al Sharpton and I have no idea what kind of relationship they share. If they have a cordial familiarity with each other, then it's far more likely that Pat will say something that could be construed as racist.

If any hyper-sensitive lefty heard my black friends and myself talking together, they would think that some sort of race riot apocalypse is coming!! Not true. In time, blacks and whites together will bury racism under the heels of ironic laughter.

If Buchanan was actually mired in a boxing analogy, wouldn't he say "your man"? "Your boy" doesn't even make sense in his own analogy...listen to his inflection even as he hurls "your boy"...then he uses that phrase *again* to reference Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, who is also a black man.

I'm no fan of Sharpton's (or wasn't until NOW). It's about TIME MSNBC hired someone who'd challenge Buchanan on his bigotry. No, it wasn't 'racially motivated', except "Uncle Pat" is the guy who referred to President Obama as a 70s ghetto street hustler, Yeah, nothing racially motivated there, but if you just choose to believe that all racist connotations are accidents.

Pat tries so hard not to be a racist, but sometimes he just lets it shine through. He can't help himself.

Where is the infamous MSNBC suspension? Cenk, Keith, Ed all made less offensive comments, theirs were just directed at the right, Buchannan was directed at the left so I guess that does not matter as much. Hypocrisy is deep.

Why is anything Pat Buchanan says newsworthy? The man has been a well known flake for years.

Tonight the nation got a wake up call telling them Obama was right - taxes must be raised as part of a comprehensive plan. The mess that the Congress 'agreed' to is insufficient. Congress must end it's vacation next week to start righting their mistakes. They must get serious and reconsider the President's proposal. They have not adjourned and this is a national emergency if there ever was one. I know this is not going to happen, but I can hope, right????

Even if you can't stand Pat Buchanan, he's far more anti-war than your guy (boy?) in the White House.

Danny Glover once said that no matter how successful he is, he will always remember that he is still a black man. I'm sure Pres. Obama would agree with this after being elected as the POTUS.

I'm sure Pat Buchanan so desperately wanted to call Al Sharpton a "boy" too! To think this man ran for President and was taken seriously is quite scary.

Like Ron Paul who is actually anti-war and has principles? Yeah, it'd be totally scary to stop funneling money to Blackwater.

Many of Pat Buchanan's comments offend me.
In addition, his voice offends me. He is a whiny "high-talker."
How on earth did he ever get to be a person that anyone would want to listen to?

BEATS ME! I ALWAYS MUTE OR CHANGE THE CHANNEL WHENEVER HE COMES ON
