Kyle Rapps, 'Streets Move On'

Kyle Rapps, 'Streets Move On'

Kyle Rapps hasn't fully "arrived" yet, but his name is just starting to leak through the channels. Rapps is a young poetry slammer/rapper who subscribes to the notion of thoughtful, socially conscious rap, in the vein of Blackalicious and Zion I.

His mixtape, On Air , will be released -- for free! -- later this summer. As the title suggests, it features samples of French electro-dream duo Air, an ethereal counter to the rhymes Rapps spits out. The mixtape will also feature Talib Kweli, who is present on this track, "Streets Move On," which takes from Air's "Mike Mills."

The concept is vaguely reminiscent of AmpLive's sampling of Radiohead on Rainydayz Remixes, except less developed. But Rapps is showing promise here, so remember that name.
