'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' Filmed In San Francisco (VIDEO)

WATCH: Apes Attack Golden Gate Bridge

Get ready, film-fans: "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" comes out Friday and it was filmed right here in SF.

A reboot of the classic 1970s series, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is the first live action motion picture with an sentient animal as the protagonist, as much of the story is told from a CGI ape's point of view. (PETA is going crazy.) Plus, the visual effects are by Weta Digital (the geniuses behind "Avatar" and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy) so you can bet the special effects will be incredible.

These details alone would be enough to pique our interest, but add in some suspension curling scenes of an ambushed Golden Gate Bridge, a Twin Peaks takeover and total Market Street destruction, and we're hitting the IMAX tonight. And we'll be watching our backs when we cross Market on the way home.

The official trailer sums up the plot nicely, but we prefer the Comic-Con teaser for its sweeping scenes of San Francisco. Check it out in the clip below. (CAUTION: This video contains violent images and themes.)
