Ashton Kutcher 'Two And A Half Men' Set Picture Released (PHOTO)

First Posted: 08/07/11 10:23 AM ET Updated: 10/07/11 06:12 AM ET

After months of buildup, press tours and cryptic insults from network suits, Ashton Kutcher has finally begun the actual work of filming "Two and a Half Men."

The former "That 70s Show" star, the heralded replacement for an off-the-rails Charlie Sheen who was fired after epic rants against the show's creator last season, plays Walden Schmidt, a broken hearted internet billionaire. Kutcher has received nothing but praise from the show's producers, who, in addition to plotting out the new character, have been hammering out a vengeful funeral for Sheen's Charlie Harper character that will take place in the first episode.

According to TMZ, Harper will have suffered a brutal death by falling off a Paris subway platform and getting hit by a train in the time between last season's early end and this season's premiere, allowing the producers to hold a star-studded funeral for the womanizer who helped the show reach number one in the ratings. For details on that funeral, including guests and set photos, click over to TMZ.

Although the ensemble cast of 2and1/2 men does a great job, the show is Charlie Sheen. I had the final scenerio in my head since I hear that he was fired and leaving the show. My version also had Rose in it, but Charlie just decided he loved Rose, left CA for London, stating he was not returning and would spend his life in the country with Rose. PERIOD! I wonder how killing off Charlie helps Kutcher step into the role, and for the ensemble to move on in their gregarious, and outrageous manner. This miserable death, for me, puts a damper on the arrival of Kutcher...the SUITS needed to think this throug a bit better. To kill off Charlied, made them feel good but how about the viewing audience? His behavior was awful, bnut his performances were always brilliant, and he will be missed. He acted like a fool, and has regrets, now let's move on, if possible! I look forward to seeing Ashton come into the show, and also look forward to Charlie's next role. This whole situation was terrible for everyone, and yes, Charlie let them down, and worst of all, himself!

Why doesn't his mommy Demi get the poor kid a shave and a haircut? He looks like he's 16 and just reaching puberty.

Charlie Harper's open casket funeral:

Wonder if Lorre anticipated what was coming and stored it for this (final?) season?

Forget about Charlie and Ashton Kutscher altogether.
Turn the show around - center on Holland Taylor & Conchata Farrell's characters, with Jon Cryer & Angus T Jones dropping in when necessary.

Thanks for agreeing.
When I first started watching 2 and 1/2 Men back when it started, I couldn't get into it, thinking it was just a big sexist pile. But the more I saw of Taylor & Farrell, and also Melanie Lynsky, I realized the joke was always on Charlie. He is not as "winning" as he thinks he is.
As the women on this show have proven many times in their other projects, they are more than up to the task of carrying a show without Charlie Sheen .

I know that for the show to succeed, other people have to watch it, but for me to enjoy it?
WHo cares if it is crickets.

I don't know if it will be any good, but my curiosity will lead to watch it.
Yours will too, otherwiseyou wouldn't be reading these articles and commenting on the comments.

Absolutely I will watch. The new show will have the biggest ratings ever the first night. Where it goes from there who knows? I hope it is a success for the cast and crew. But if it crashes and burns I have admit I will enjoy {along with a lot of Charlie's fans} the Schaddenfreud at Chuck Lorre's revenge failure.

Getting hit by a train? Shouldn't his death been a bit more wacky? Like falling into the tiger den at the zoo? Death by chocolate? Falls into a vat of chocolate during the Hershey's tour. His parachute doesn't open, and he lands in a cactus farm. There's nothing humorous about getting hit by a train. -- Then again, there was nothing humorous about that show... so well done writers!

I think Rose pushing Charlie in front of a train after catching him cheating on her is the PERFECT demise for him. Whats even better is she got away with it.! He was great but it was time for him to go, Everyone seems to be cheering him on for sticking it to Lorre. But Charle took alot of money to make the show. I see an ungratefull wack-job. so long Charlie and don't rest in peace.

You mean Charlie Sheen's character's death or the death of his career?

This is not true. Charlie went after Rose, with who he was having a torrid affair. Rose married Manny Quinn to make Charlie jealous, and it worked. Rose and Charlie talked about running off to Europe, leaving her husband behind (after all, he's a dummy).

Rose will report Charlies' death to the family, and send them a casket, but it will have Manny Quinn inside it. Charlie will be held prisoner in Paris by Rose, which he won't particularly mind since she is rich.

Rose will forward Charlie's last will and testament that says the house may be sold, subject to the condition that Alan and Jake may live there for as long as they shall live, if they choose to. If they leave, they will forfeit the right.

Rose will hold Charlie in Paris until Charlie Sheen sobers up, gets a counselor better than Jane Lynch, If Ashton is a hit, he can stay. It will turn out that Rose broke his heart. She also had a love child by him, a boy.

How do I know this? Thirty years as a serious student of soap opera plots.

Works for me.

I liked mine better but right  now anything would be better than AK and this joke of an attempt to continue the cash cow Charlie was responsible for.

Love that Manny Quinn, and. . .

He is a much better actor than Kutcher.

HE should have replaced Charlie.

A better plot would've been to have Charlie Harper in a disfiguring car accident and then after the bandages are removed voila! Charlie now looks like Kelso from That 70s Show BUT he's still Charlie and the Rose-Charlie storyline would continue seamlessly. After all they had 2 Marilyns on THE MUNSTERS and 2 Terrys on MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY.

None of these actors were the core of their shows. This is a tv show that starred Charlie Sheen playing a toned down version of his wild self. Everything revolves around Charlie and his beach house. If they had replaced Jerry Seinfield would it have been the same show?

It's really not fair for H--P to have tease headline like "How Charlie Sheen Dies!" only to be about his fictional character. Not that I wish him ill but his real life demise is bound to be more interesting than anything a sitcom comes up with.
