'The Dark Knight Rises' Fight Video: Batman, Bane In Epic Fight, Football Explosions (VIDEO)

Kapow!

Or so an Adam West version of this scene might call out.

No camp in this video, though. Instead, what WPIX of Pittsburgh caught on tape at "The Dark Knight Rises" set was some wild, brutal brawling amongst the Gotham City Police and Arkham Asylum inmates and, within that ruckus, some serious (feigned) punches thrown between Christian Bale's Batman and Tom Hardy's Bane.

Well, one Batman at least; as we see early in the clip, there are multiple Batman actors, with Bale getting some relief from stunt doubles; from the distance the video is shot at, it's impossible to tell who is throwing these punches, though, for sure, closeups in the actual film will feature Bale's face in that iconic mask.

Also caught on film was footage from Saturday's shoot at Heinz Field; the home stadium of the Steelers was used as a stand-in for the fictional Gotham Rogues. Videos from fans in the crowd shows explosions rocking the field, which must have provided a thrill for the actual Steelers players who were in Rogues uniforms as part of the shoot.

Speaking to the Forest Hills-Regent Square Patch, local resident and football shoot attendee Erin Giambelluca said that it was wildly hot and winter wear was required, meaning the crew gave out lots of water. She described a speech by Tom Hardy's Bane, and the major fireworks shown in the video.

"Right after the football scene ended, they did one explosion," she said. "It looked like pieces of grass all over the field to make it look like it was blown up while the players were on it, and we had to wear ear plugs for that. We had to rehearse and make sure we weren't smiling during that part."

These videos are just the latest outsider-shot footage from the set; earlier videos and pictures showed similar battle footage, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate. Some people are acting like babies. First they complain that film is being shot in Pittsburgh, then they complain that some of the Steeler player's have a small cameo, and finally they complain about an amateur video of a fight scene that is obviously still being choreographed and worked out. I bet if they saw how all movies look without sound, different angles and such their heads will explode. I give Nolan more benefit then the armchair directors on this site.

Yup. I figured in this day and age people would be more aware of how different the shooting of a movie is from the final product. Jeez.

the more that these unprecedented scenes get released, the more this movie is likely to be a spectacular bomb — all teaser, cheap action, empty star quality to get folks in the first week or so (until the word gets out) and then no interesting story or plot to keep the audiences packing in to see movie more than once while it's still in the theatres. I probably saw if 3 times before it went to video.

I'm surprised that for this one South Dakota got a pro football team, since Bane crashes a game between the Gotham Rogues and the Rapid City Monuments.

why would so many of these guys be brawling with police when the have the automatic weapons?
this just makes no sense.
04:43 PM on 08/08/2011
Well shooting in 500 different directions at close range with automatic weapons makes a little less sense.

I'm worried because the whole scene looks less like chris nolan's realism and more like tim burton's un-realism. I hope this scene doesn't make it to the final cut of the film.

Bale was an awesome child actor..did some good roles as an adult...but think Batman will be his legacy...His voice is different in every role except for Batman..it does sound forced and raspy...I'll wait for it to come out on DVD...Same old plot to rush to the big screen..

He's a TERRIBLE Batman, really awful. I think the only reason The Dark Knight was praised was because of Heath Ledger's high as a kite chewing of the scenery. Terribly storyline and terrible cast.

I disagree

Nope, try again.

Rather see another Spiderman first.

I'm not sure about release dates, but The Amazing Spiderman seems further along, so you may get that wish. What upsets me is how quickly DC intends to reboot Batman again after Nolan's run.
Gotta have that Robin for the JLA. Because lord knows the lack of Dick Grayson...whew.

and their using that dorky kid from "3rd Rock from the Sun"...Gordon leavit something because their is slight resemblence to Heath Ledger. Is nothing sacred to these Greedy Hollywood Profit Hounds? Nothing is in bad taste if it tricks people into paying cash? Geez. just Geez.
04:22 PM on 08/08/2011
Seriously? They are using Joseph Gordon-Levitt because he is one of the finest young actors in the business. Inception, 500 Days of Summer and The Lookout are some of the best films of the past 10 years. To insist that his casting is based on something as illogical as what you wrote is insulting to those of us that actually enjoy films as art. Not trying to be mean, seriously watch The Lookout. Amazing film that will change your opinion of the guy.

Agreed. He looks almost nothing like Ledger. He is working on this film because he worked with Nolan before in Inception. I love how people draw conclusions that are not there.

Is this one finally going to reveal what we have all been suspecting since the 60's: Batman is gay. Maybe it is best just to leave us guessing on that one.

Only when Robin is involved. In The Dark Knight series Batman is all man...dressed up like a bat.
02:29 PM on 08/08/2011
Bale is one of the better Batman's. The one thing that bugs me is how forced and raspy he makes his voice when talking. It just sounds weird.
02:31 PM on 08/08/2011
He sounds like a chain smoker when he is in batman form.

Why is this Franchise continuing? I like Bale but gosh...it's sort of like Woody Allen films: Allen just keeps remaking the same movie -- ANNIE HALL, over and over and over and over and over again. The actors change but the central character is always woody...be it a male or female actor. It's always the same analysis of relationships...and the same jokes.

Same with Batman....different faces, same ol' story. Are we as Americans so tapped out emotionally and intellectually that we will pay more money to just see the same movie over and over again? God...let's make a resolution to raise our standards and just wait for the crap to come on netflix or redbox.
02:46 PM on 08/08/2011
Hey! Leave Woody Allen out of this. I've probably seen ~75% of his films, and while there are similarities and recurring themes, they are by no means carbon copies of one another. When the smoke clears, he may well stand as the most important American director of the later 20th century.

Woody Allen gives no meaning to the words Hackneyed, Banal and derivitive.

and by the term "when the smoke clears" are you refering to some sort of apocolypse? Because that is the only way I could see Woody Allen being labelled as the greatest director of all time.
05:53 PM on 08/08/2011
I agree with you Davi Car! Allen has more great films and good films than any living American director. His output is amazing.
05:21 AM on 08/09/2011
Um, it's not "the same movie" anymore than Dark Knight was the same movie as Batman Begins. Nolan is finishing Batman's story arc with this one. Christ, what stupid criticism.
