Taylor Swift Offers Advice To Teens

Taylor Swift's Advice For Teens

Taylor Swift may only be 21-years-old but she's got some sage advice for teens.

The singer, who took home six Teen Choice Awards, including the Ultimate Choice Award on Sunday night, said the best advice she received as a teenager was to, "live your life like you're 80 looking back on your teenage years."

She explained:

"You know if your dad calls you at eight in the morning and asks if you want to go to breakfast? As a teenager you're like no, I want to sleep. As an 80 year old looking back, you have that breakfast with your dad. It's just little things like that that helped me when I was a teenager in terms of making the choices you won't regret later."

Swift joked during an acceptance speech that it felt like a long time since she's been a teenager, "like two years -- so it's been a while."

The singer and sometimes actress, who had a small role in the star-studded movie "Valentine's Day" with then-flame Taylor Lautner, told the audience:

"When I was a teenager I felt like we were always being stereotyped as being really intense and dramatic and passionate and hopelessly romantic and excitable, and now in retrospect I think I need to let you know that I think all of those things are amazing. I hope you never lose those things."
