'The Lincoln Lawyer' TV Show: ABC, Lionsgate Developing Series For Books & Film

Hit Matthew McConaughey Film Becoming A TV Series

Good thing Mickey Haller already works in LA; it looks like he won't be leaving town for a while.

Variety reports that ABC and Lionsgate TV are developing a TV series based on the hit film, "The Lincoln Lawyer," and the Michael Connelly-written book series from which it is derived. A legal drama about a less-than-perfect defense attorney who works out of the back seat of his Lincoln car, the film starred Matthew McConaughey, Ryan Phillipe, Marisa Tomei and William H. Macy and, while opening at number four in a tight and depressed March box office, ended up taking in $75 million worldwide and earning an 83% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

The film took its title from the first book in Connelly's serialized Haller novels; there are four books in which he features, some of which include his half brother, detective Harry Bosch, as well as a short story and a bit appearance in a Bosch-focused book.

At the moment, ABC boasts a schedule with a number of police-focused shows, such as "Castle," and "Detroit 1-8-7," but there's a space for a legal drama to be added to the mix.
