Joseph Gordon Levitt In 'The Dark Knight Rises' Batman Set Footage (VIDEO)

First Posted: 08/12/11 02:19 PM ET   Updated: 10/12/11 06:12 AM ET

Finally, footage of the last major piece of the "The Dark Knight Rises" cast has been captured.

Not in the manner that Warner Bros. would like, of course, and without the gorgeous camera movements, closeups and effects that will feature on the big screen, but exciting nonetheless.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays special assignment cop John Blake in Christopher Nolan's final Batman film, was captured on set in Pittsburgh by an eagle-eyed paparazzi, walking behind a new Batmobile tumbler vehicle. Notice the weather in Pittsburgh-as-Gotham; it's the middle of summer, but thanks to movie magic, it looks like the dead of winter.

On YouTube, the videographer and uploader wrote that he was walking into an orphanage, though it's hard to confirm that from watching this video alone. Given his plainclothes costume, he presumably won't have to defend himself, as Anne Hathaway has been doing of late for her Catwoman garb.

Check out all the leaked photos and video (with images and clips of Batman, Bane, Catwoman and Miranda Tate) below, including Gordon-Levitt's bit; and click here to see the teaser trailer.

For a those saying this person was the best this ever HOLD UP! Every Batman story and vision is different:

Adam West=Campy 60s version not to be taken seriously
Micheal Kaeton= Good Bamman even better Bruce Wayne he played it absent minded and excentric
Val Kilmer= OK Batman, Horrible Bruce wayne he could not pull it off gave him no personality
George Clooney= Bad because the movie just stunk. Bad Batman, bad Bruce Wayne
Christain Bale= Great Batman and Good bruce Wayne, plays it up that Wayne pretends to be a playboy.

The only truly bad Batman is Clooney.
The only true bad Bruce Wayne is Clonney and Kilmer.

Everybody else did well. As far as the Joker Ceasar Romaro, Jack Nickolson and Health Ledger all play different versions also. You can't really compare. But in my opinion you can't beat Ledger's scary, psychopathic turn as the Joker. He played the ultimate Villian. Nicholson was great in the movie he was in, he's not a character actor, and Ceasar Romaro was just campy and funny.

I agree. Nolan's Batman films are great. I was not sold on Batman Begins at first BUT THe Dark Knight is seriously one of THE best films ever made. It is SO good that it transended the "comic book movie" and just soared.

pfft...like we ever get anything we want!
I am disappointed tho with the scene in 'Dark Knight' where the Joker's shooting out of the circus truck and it WASN'T the Haley Circus! Could have been such a nice little homage.

He'll always be Tommy Solomon to me. Loved "Third Rock" and really enjoyed his work in "Inception." Go, Joe!

Joe G is a good actor. He keeps getting better from 3rd Rock to The 10 things I hate about you and 500 days of Summer, where he captured a young man's struggle with first love. You really felt bad for him in that movie, but it did have a phony hollywood upside ending. Not his fault.

Some people think that J-G-L looks like Heath Ledger's younger brother, wonder if Nolan cast him because of that?
01:30 PM on 08/13/2011
no. that doesn't really make sense. besides he was in Inception and Nolan likes to recast actors.
11:41 AM on 08/14/2011
I agree that J-G-L does resemble Heath Ledger in looks, but I don't think that's the reason why Nolan cast J-G-L in the film. Nolan probably cast him because he's a terrific actor.
12:14 PM on 08/14/2011
Yeah I agree he is a good actor and my post does sound looney, what I meant was maybe there is some connection between JGL's role and the Joker? am not familiar with the Batman characters/story plots.

Can we please get a real Bat Mobil back. This thing looks horrible. And Jack Nicklaus was the best Joker ever AND NO ONE EVEN COMES CLOSE.

Not fazed by any of the pre-release posturing ... just want to see the film when it comes out.

The one thing that is given ... Christian Bale IS BATMAN ... by far, the best one EVER.
11:51 AM on 08/13/2011
Obviously you have NEVER seen Michael Keaton's Batman, He played Batman the best, EVER. Clooney & Kilmer tie for worst.
12:13 PM on 08/13/2011
Mr. Rudee, thanks for your comment. On the contrary, I started with Michael Keaton years ago, when the Batman films hit the screen. He portrayed the pensive, troubled soul aspect of the Batman character beautifully. I was pleasantly shocked to see what a great job he did ...

But I just feel that CHRISTIAN BALE hands down does the best job with both roles (Batman/Bruce Wayne) -- athleticism, looks, decisiveness, anger, humor ... also think that BATMAN BEGINS was superior to THE DARK KNIGHT -- few agree with that. Agree that Kilmer and Clooney were terribly miscast. I cannot wait to see the next one ...Thanks again !
12:25 PM on 08/13/2011
I think it was Tim Burton's and his choice of Keaton for batman was probably ironic. The notion of Keaton beating anyone up is hilarious. I guess he couldn't bother to train for the movie. Adam West would probably wipe the floor with him.

How a guy with a small head, extra long neck, and narrow shoulders,be cast as the Bat Man, I will never know. It's ludicrous and most likely nepotism of some sort. Is this the comedy version?
