Kelly Rowland Didn't Want Beyonce On Her New Album (VIDEO)

I Don't Want Beyonce's Help

Kelly Rowland has a hit new single, ‘Motivation,' but its success has nothing to do with former Destiny's Child co-member, Beyonce.

“I’ve had the support of Michelle and B for so long,” Rowland tells me, referring to Beyonce, whom she also calls her sister. “Yes, my ladies have heard the album. And they love it, they love it and they’re very proud.”

Insisting there is no jealousy between any of the three performers, Rowland admitted she did consider having Beyonce on the record.

“I just wanted this to be me on this record," she explained when she sat down with me to tape my HDNet talk show, "Naughty But Nice with Rob." "If I heard someone on the record [in my head] then I definitely wanted them on. Like for the next single 'Lay it On Me' I heard Big Sean who is so amazing right now."

But how does it feel now that Rowland is standing solo, without Beyonce or former member, Michelle Williams by her side?

“It was such a massive group. Destiny’s Child made such an impact on the world, we were international. That feels good to say. 'International female group of all time,'" Rowland tells me. “It wasn’t so much pressure [of recording solo] as far as myself but more like letting the world put pressure on me and once I allowed them not to do that I just thought about the fact that I wanted a great record full of feel great music that I love that completely reflects me. That’s exactly what I got with 'Here I am' and I’m just so proud of this product.”

And although people are calling this a comeback, Rowland would rather see it as a rebirth.

“For me, just feeling like I’m in control of my career and having a great management team and having a great record label and having a great team surround me definitely helps,” Rowland, who just like Beyonce fired B’s dad as her manager, tell me.

To catch my entire interview with Kelly tune into "Naughty But Nice with Rob," on HDNet Saturday at 1:00 PM and 7:00.
