Republican economic policy was crafted by those who are not on speaking terms with reality or rational thought.

If anything it seems the Republicans and especially their craz.ed Tea Party subsidiary re deliberately trying to sabotage any economic recovery for political gain. That only "works" if you can keep everyone else from noticing what you are doing...the GOTP is doing it out in the open and  Read More...

GOP economic policies are causing the ruination of the global economy. Their one and only claim to fame is to insist that we should double down on the same policies that got us into this economic disaster.

Its all about divide and conquer. Feed as many as you can a diet of hatred. Bring out the calculators and limit the talk about any suffering. Destroy if possible the "better Angels of our nature' and instead, paint those of our fellow countryfolk as being stinking bums, all the better if they are brown or black. Addict as many as you can with the hatred drug and since most are prone to this particular addiction anyway, keeping them is not difficult.

Can any tea-partier cite me just one example in our nation's history where cutting spending has resulted in any kind of growth?

I heard this morning on CNBC that Carl Icahn made something like $473,000 on some stock transaction today. Can we not stipulate that he should be paying more than 15% on deals like this? Would it kill him to have to pay $185,000 (39%) on this type of a deal rather that $71,000 (15%)? Does he need the extra $114,000 that bad?

Quote from the NYT article "macroeconomists and private sector forecasters were warning that the direction in which the new House Republican majority had pushed the White House and Congress this year — for immediate spending cuts, no further stimulus measures and no tax increases, ever — was wrong for addressing the nation’s two main ills, a weak economy now and projections of unsustainably high federal debt in coming years.

Instead, these critics say, Washington should be focusing on stimulating the economy in the near term to induce people to spend money and create jobs, while settling on a long-term plan for spending cuts and tax increases to take effect only after the economy recovers."

That should say it all.
