Orson Welles Home (And Former Porn Set) Listed For $1.285 Million

This West Hollywood property, once home to Orson Welles, has recently been listed for $1.285 million. In just two weeks, notes the LA Times, a sale is already pending.

The legendary Orson Welles, best known for "Citizen Kane," "Lady From Shanghai," and the 1938 radio broadcasting of "War Of The Worlds," lived in this property during the last fifteen years of his life, according to the LA Times. Welles died in the home, "just off the main foyer," and the location "is still outlined in masking tape," according to the current owner Daniel Waters, screenwriter of "Heathers." Waters also wrote for the films "Demolition Man," "Batman Returns," and "Hudson Hawk."

In a 2008 LA Times interview with Waters he explained that in the decade after Welles died, the property was used in numerous porn films, according to the book "Pornstar" by Ian Gittler.

The compound is private and gated, with beautiful grounds and fruit trees, according to the listing. The three bedroom and three bathroom home has a dramatic entry, a grand living room, and dining room with great room off the kitchen, with crown moldings throughout. The expansive property lot reaches nearly 15,000-square-feet.
